Sharons Victory's Journal, 11 April 2023

so I've been struggling with getting back up and trying again.

When I envision getting back up and trying again I picture meal prep and restriction of the types of food I can have, etc. and then I feel reluctant to want to try again.

I feel so much shame in myself - how far I've let myself fall....I've just been hiding at home binge eating and declining all invites to go anywhere because I am ashamed to let anyone see me because I see this look of sadness sweep over their face...

Yesterday though I realized that maybe I'm over thinking this and over complicating this...maybe if I just start using this app again and tracking my food and working out every day that'll be enough to start losing again.

Prayers appreciated - I have a long journey ahead of me. But I can't focus on how long the journey is - I need to just take it one day at a time.

you are not alone Sharon just know that there are many people that struggle just like you. Maybe a group like Weight Watchers would help? If you are around other people that struggle like you. Also, sometimes we think that people are thinking of us when that isn't always the case. Mostly people think about themselves. Take Care and be kind to yourself.

You are not alone. You are loved and I have been there. I cannot lose my covid weight but I am not giving up. Let’s do this together! One day at a time, one moment at a time

Sharon, I wish I had the answer(s). That or a magic wand I could wave to make all our problems and excess weight disappear. One thing I do know. I’m 20-something years older than you and I wish I had stuck with it the last time I lost 50 lbs., 2003-07. Now I’m having to do it all again, plus 30 more pounds (and I’ll still be overweight). This time I’ve realized that I cannot do this without tracking, as annoying as it sometimes can be, and some form of accountability (here or elsewhere). Right now I seem to be stalled, but I refuse to give up. Today is the day you started over. I believe in you, too and that you will be able to find your old groove (or maybe create a new one?). Blessings to you.

Find a reason to stick with it. Know that not every day will show progress. When you feel a binge coming on drink a full glass of water, then find something to distract yourself. Go outside away from the kitchen and away from food and do something. You can do this.

I'm on low carb too; for diabetes type 2. Just got my bloodwork back today and it seems I am nearly down to prediabetes levels. :D I found keto hard till I found keto wraps (2.5g net carbs per wrap), keto crispbread (atkins), and various other fun things. I buy olives by the kilo. I eat 4 ounces of cheese at lunch. Each time I find a new thing I can eat it helps me out a lot. Don't give up. :) I also don't lose weight unless I'm on keto.

I have been trying to lose weight for 13 yrs...the traditional exercise plans- Beachbody, etc just never worked for me. a gym membership meant HOURS at the gym daily to get any progress. I had even tried prescribed medications without any success. I have to do my own thing, work into my own plan, but the app helps me track and keeps me accountable. progress is slow, but it IS progress and I feel I will do better to keep it off. You aren't alone in this struggle...and you CAN do this!

When I am in a slump I do the Military Diet for three days to get my head back into the game. It helps me to refocus on better choices.

🙏. Prayed for you Sharon. You know what to do, and also know that the sooner you start, the better. Glad to hear from you; sorry it’s not a happier “reunion”.

I am new (1st day),but identified with everything you said. I just declined an invitation this morning for the same reasons. I just have to pick myself up and force ME to try again!

You are overthinking this. You know what you need to do and that you can do it, as you’ve done it before. Putting off restarting your journey towards health is reinforcing your anxiety and depression. Start by making one positive change. Any action in the right direction will begin to alleviate the anxiety and fear. Try not to focus on your current weight or your goal weight too much. You have to learn to love the process because this is a lifestyle that you’ll learn to love again. Don’t avoid the people that care about you because you fear their pity. You need their love and support in the process. You can do this! You aren’t the first person to fall back into their old ways. You have to stop focusing on the shame and start to focus on the proper actions that you need to take. I’ll say it again “Action in the right direction will alleviate the shame, anxiety and depression.” Motion creates emotion. Don’t wait any longer. Make a change today. We only have this one body and our souls deserve the best vehicle possible. ❤️
