Day 1 of a planned 1 day ‘no solid food’ fast
Blood sugar 85 mg/dL

I think I had a two pound weight drop, that I reduced to only one pound, because I cranked my calories up to 1400 and I missed my run yesterday 🤦🏾‍♂️

Yeah, yeah, I know most people WILL lose weight on 1400 calories, but, I always suggest to people that they record their food daily and analyze their *own* numbers.

People like me, who have been OBESE *ALL* their adult lives do not change that by going: “Oh! I just needed to ‘follow conventional wisdom!’”. You record the numbers, look at the *facts* then *accept* the situation for being exactly the way it is.

For me:

🌟 I cannot lose weight on over 1400 calories a day
🌟 I cannot lose weight with 200+ carbs a day

I have 6 years of data on this site to prove that it is nothing personal, just the way it is. All my fasting, and other ‘ideas and techniques’, are all just methods to achieve those two objectives. I see sooo many people on the site, who like me, just stay fat. My heart goes out to you. There IS hope, You CAN do it. But, I “Suggest” that you:

1) Record *ALL* your food (that is the purpose of this site)
2) Record your weight at least weekly (daily numbers are not needed for analysis)
3) Look at *your* data each month and make *your* decisions based on #1 and #2

For me, Looking at my data, three day weekends are when I gain the most weight, and it takes 1-2 weeks to get back to the point I was when the 3+ day weekend started.

Knowing this, I can either ‘accept the weight gain’ (this is what I did over the Holidays), or ‘do something different’. So, I decided to make today a ‘no solid food’ day (this is rare for me on a weekend).

Today I plan to go to the 🏋🏾 gym and 🏃🏾 run. I know my lifting strength will still be greatly diminished, but, by still working my muscles as hard as I can, I hope to prevent as much muscle loss as I can as I continue to concentrate on dropping weight.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Awesome job finding what works for you adef!!

Yes, I completely agree. Log the numbers and study them long term. Then make adjustments accordingly. I know I can't go high calorie or what is normal even for a woman my age and expect to lose weight. And weight loss is very slow for me, which I am fine with. In fact it is teaching me to be patient. ⏳ You doing what works for you and sharing it has encouraged me to stick to what I have figured out for me. Thank you. 😊👍

@Becc@ - You know I just realized I DID lose weight over the 6 years: 232 pounds in December 2010 to 210 pounds in December 2017 = 3.1 pounds a year. So, my problem apparently is I-have-no-patience! Haha!

7 pounds to go! 😀

@Keilin_4 - Thanks. Yeah the reason it is my goal is that I just *feel better* when I am in the 160's. I am sure the 'difference' is 'mostly water' but, I am still 'lighter' and that just 'feels better' to me :)

You can reach the weight you feel comfortable with. With the daily fluctuation you easily can weigh 5 more pounds, you know?. Things are harder for you, but you will get there. 😉 🙏 You are eating more, congrats, I will tell you that for me it's not easy start my maintenance, I feel like still need to be losing weight haha.

@Keilin_4 - Thanks! You inspired me to spend an hour analyzing my numbers for the past 12 months (because I wanted to see what my 'maintenance' was). I 'found it'! Look for a huge post from me tomorrow...

Excellent post and plan. I also have been around here long enough to recognize we all have what best works for us and to listen to our inner wisdom. There are those that want to insist their way is better...I just smile and nod as I read!

You know your body, find a plan that works for you for life, tweak it along the way and do it!! Mine didn't work with someone else's plan so studied a lot about nutrition and came up with one that has worked for me. Just make sure you have lots of varied veggies.

@keyten77 - Sorry to hear about your loss of access to *your* data! However, my "previous 3 months" is really the most useful data I need to make 'decisions', so you will, or may already have, that :) Good luck!

Keyten77 you just need to send a email to FatSecret and they will restore your password. The same happened with me and they gave me back my old FatSecret account (this one)

Even though you gained from adding more calories, I think it is good to try. My “maintenance” number changes. It was 1000 for the longest time and then it went way up! Closer to 1500. It’s lower again. Trying to find out how much lower now 😏
