I’ve been Cola free for a week. Zero soda. I soon won’t think about it. It will just be another toxic thing gone from my life soon. Winning!🏆🥇🧘🏻‍♀️
However, the struggle is real. I was in Walmart buying sports bras, workout pants and filtered water. I was super thirsty and tired. There was a fridge with an ice cold Cola in it staring at me, acting like I was in Alice in Wonderland, saying “Drink Me!” The 240 calorie bottle was looking so tasty to me and I had “The Debate.” You know the one, Unrealistic Me vs. Realistic Me.
Unrealistic Me: If I get it, I’ll only have a sip.
Realistic Me: No you won’t. You’ll drink the whole thing. Tonight. The burp will be epic.
Unrealistic Me: Maybe I can buy a small can from the vending machine. Do I have 50¢?
Realistic Me: Really? You’re checking?! Thank the Universe you rarely carry loose change.
Unrealistic Me: Dang it. Boo! Well, I guess you’re right. I’d have to pass on dinner to have one. It will be fleeting. I’ll just have the iced green tea. I’ll be fine. 😔
Realistic Me: That a girl. You’ll be fine. Just breathe.

Love Diet Coke so much I only drink Diet Pepsi. Or diet Dr Pepper. Just safer for me.

Guess the unrealistic you knows my unrealistic me from somewhere because my unrealistic me keeps on nagging my realistic me exactly the same way about chocolate and Doritos. Your realistic you needs to spend more time with my realistic me tough... 😅

The trick is to reason with yourself long enough, eventually your realistic side will win, I also do this with Lay's potato chips, OMG I love them!!!!!, then old meanie realistic comes in and makes a stand, just keep going, do you want to go back never going anywhere and clothes that don't fit 😥😢😧😭

Years ago I was a diet Pepsi addict. I never liked regular sodas because my mouth felt and tasted like I'd been eating candy all day. The aspartame after taste was preferable because I thought the diet drinks were healthier. Ha! If you are aware of the sugar aftertaste it might be a new and improved point of focus. The diet drinks are more toxic than the large heap of sugar in Coke but I never miss them now. I had one a couple of years ago in a movie theater and was very aware that i was drinking a cup of chemicals. You will be so glad when this is no longer part of your life! I'm actually shocked when I see anyone drinking this stuff. I really have to bite my tongue but in this case you've brought it up. 😀

Oh I totally know that Looped. I can't touch anything with Aspartame or Acesulfame potassium in it. I am a Chronic Migrainer and I know what they can and have done to me. On a previous diet, when I didn't realize how bad those two were, I put Splenda on everything, drank diet colas like it was water. Now I am on the other end. I drink regular cola when my migraines are bad because the caffeine and the cola make the nausea stop. However, that turns into a sad cycle of drinking cola after cola. I'm drinking green tea these days. It's not the same, but it is effective. Thank you for sharing.

Right there with you! When I think I just have to have one I get a diet without aspartame. I will not touch a real Pepsi. I have a huge fear that if I ever take one drink my Pepsi free life will be over.

In that instance, I'd go find some unsweetened water like la croix or dasani and buy a six pack in the store rather than touch that soda. if you're okay with pure stevia, try "Water Drops" in still or carbonated water. They don't have unsweetened yet, but the SodaStream site does have some "Essences" flavors on their website you can add to still or carbonated water as well. They're like the La Croix stuff, no sweet, just smell and taste. Sometimes they have them at Target. I try and stay away from the bubbles these days, but at least you'll know what you're getting.
