My first week of Keto is Finished! All I can say is WOW. I was honestly skeptical when I started because I have tried many diets and none have ever worked like this. I don't need to snack because I am always full. I actually was scared I had gained a couple pounds in the last day or two because of how full I feel. It is an odd feeling for sure because I was always hungry before and I snacked a LOT. -8Lbs lost the first week. I'm not going to lie, it feels like I'm on cloud nine. I'm glad I found this site, I feel like it is really helping me to stay on track.
220.0 lb Lost so far: 8.0 lb.    Still to go: 75.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

Fantastic! I'm watching your success because we seem to have the same stats and target weight. Love to know what you are eating as a vegetarian though as I really need to avoid animal fats (cholesterol)!!

That's great! Isn't it cool to feel so satisfied for so long??? (LOVE keto for lots of reasons and that's for sure one of them.) Wilpena, did you know cholesterol is our friend? More and more doctors are realizing that the war on cholesterol is srsly wrong.

OK, Last week my doctor just called me in "urgently" cos my cholesterol had gone from 3 up to 5.5 over 6 months. He wanted to know what on earth I'd been doing!!! (Gnawing on pigs ears??? LOL)

Hippymom - That feeling keeps on going. I too was skeptical, especially a diet that lets you eat bacon and pork rinds. I just finished my 8th week and I've lost 41 pounds. Keto has been the answer to my dieting nightmares. I'm always full too! Keep it up!

But what are you snacking on to keep carbs down and fats up? I'm at a loss! Butter!!! YUCK!!!

Wilpena - I snack on salami, ham, turkey, tuna, cheese and (if you like them) pork rinds. Hard boiled eggs too. I've found that I don't snack as often because I'm usually full and breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of water too.

Well that's a bit different to my almonds, carrots and celery sticks! LOL I wouldn't touch nitrate preserved or smoked meats if my life depended on it, however I can handle cheese, eggs and tuna! Thanks for the help!

Thank you so much you all. Your encouragement means a lot to me. Wilpena I snack on boiled eggs mostly when I snack. Sometimes I have a yogurt(I found an organic one with only 1 carb per ounce. But honestly I mostly drink water between meals and that is pretty filling for me because my breakfast lunch and dinner fills me well. Berrie55 The ketogenic diet is a high fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrate lifestyle.(I have less than 30 carbs total a day) Nutritional ketosis is a metabolic state where you burn fats/ketones, instead of glucose. Ketosis is the result of restricting carbohydrate intake and balancing daily fat and protein. That way your body burns fat for its energy. It is a strict diet that eliminates a lot of foods but it is worth it for me. Again thanks so much everyone for your uplifting words. <3

Berrie55: Keto or LowCarbHighFat is a WOE which is about convincing your body to use fat for energy instead of carbs by entering and sustaining a state of ketogenesis. You get there-with the help of several calculators - by eating very few carbohydrates (less than 5% of total calories, or about 20 g/day-and that means no sugar or starch) AND eating about 70% of you calories as fat-heavy whipping cream, butter, bacon, eggs. There are many iterations and way to do it, but that's it in a nutshell-which are allowed in limited amounts on keto! (wink).
