Diana 1234's Journal, 23 March 2024

I am in a funk…I went to have my pacemaker device check to see why I’m getting so dizzy. Results were concerning. I’m pacing 92 % in top chambers and more concerning I’m pacing 98% in bottom chamber. ( what that means is that in one minute my heart is only beating 2xs on its own in lower chambers) Drs are very concerned about this because pacing too high in lower chambers causes heart damage. They adjusted it and my pacing would go down to 70% but within a minute it would return to original numbers. They tried several different adjustments and same results..they even FaceTimed with device reps to rectify issues but same results..End results were that I have to return in one month and they will have a rep from device company there to see what can be done. I also need to see my cardiologist to see if indeed there is heart damage beyond the electrical part. I’ll be doing lots of tests it seems…As I finished testing I felt very dizzy. Before I got up I asked technician if the testing would cause me to be so dizzy. She said nothing she did should cause dizziness. They took my blood pressure and it was 81/53. They gave me water and had me stand. She took bp again and it went up to 91/65. Better but still low.
I feel frustrated as I take care of my body, I eat good foods ( except I had cheese pizza yesterday..)and exercise regularly. I feel betrayed by my body, if that makes sense…Fitness is such a big part of my life. The Dr recommended that I not lift weights for a few days. I complied and just walked 2 miles everyday. I can return to bodypump on Monday. I still say, getting old sucks!💜

Oh my gosh this is not good news and sure keeping you from your goals. It is ok to have a pity party too. I had a very wise oncologist who told me once I was done with treatment I could not live in fear every day waiting for the other shoe to drop. He said he would allow me 10 minutes each day and then I had to focus on my life and being as healthly as I could. You got this and knowing your strong go do attitude you wil find the answer or you will be helping research find the answers. Maybe there is someone willing to help monitor you better so as to help you and others that may face this. So many good ideas here and I believe God has chosen you to be a leader.

I hope you guys don't mind if I answer most of comments all in one. I've had a super busy day, I volunteered to do our Easter egg hunt at our church's annual Easter Festival. It was crazy successful! Over 3,000 people showed up! I feel blessed to serve our church and I met so many nice people! Fun but very tiring! Anyway, Thank you guys for always supporting me! I really appreciate your comments!🩷 Some of you mentioned creatine and adjusting my WOE as well as water consumption. I am going to talk to Dr about what he thinks and my nutritionist and I already discussed changing WOE.

Cont.. I drink lots of water but could be low in electrolytes. I'll have to look into that. As far as keto, I'm not really interested in that but I sincerely appreciate the comment. I am watching carbs but I consume about 100 grams a day. I was originally told by my cardiologist that keto wasn't recommended for my issues. I also have some autoimmune issues. I'm over feeling sorry for myself! I liked what Redporchlady said. 10 min is enough time to wallow..I just need to research and find what will work for me. I have done it before! You guys have given me so much to consider and again, I really appreciate it!

fyi. I'm keto/ carnivore. Nope, it hasn't helped my PVC'S and IST'S and low BP. I've been following your journey. For me, there is no treatment but to do what we are doing. Trying to take care of ourselves. Our body does betray. I get it. My biggest fear is to need the zapping procedure. You've educated me that pacemakers are not magic. I really hope they can figure out what's going on. ? any recalls or reports on the unit you have? I'm sure you'd know. just keep doing what feels good. ❤️

Jenjabba, No recalls that I’m aware of on pacemaker. I was told by Drs in San Diego that my brand of pm was the best. I am anxious to see what unfolds after CT scan of heart. Hopefully no damage. I hope no one thinks I was saying anything negative about keto, I see that it works pretty good for some of thee FS members but I’m happy with WOE that I’ve been on. I do eat a fair amount of protein and fats and carbs are a good amount for me. I love fruit and vegetables and do eat some grains . I find it helps with energy levels. 💜💜💜

I can relate to feeling betrayed by your body when you do all you can to be healthy & your body throws something new at you. I was feeling dizzy, out of breath & and light-headed in January. I'm pretty for me it was dehydration but my cardiologists didn't take my word for it. They started talking about doing ALL the tests. A few little blips were recorded on the Holter moniter when I wore it for 2 weeks. I actually felt angry that my body wasn't 100% fine. I was eating healthy, wirking out....doing all the right stuff! Because of a couple of afib incidents about 18 years ago, I have taken meds to help regulate my heart rate since then. My heart beat always has a little blip in it....partially caused by the meds. I hope you're fine with no damage to the heart ❤️ Is there any possibility it's your new pacemaker causing the issue & not actually your heart?

Thanks to all! I will call regular cardiologist to make appt to see if I have any heart damage from pacing so much and also to figure out why I’m getting so dizzy. It happened at church yesterday….I’m getting impatient with myself! Sherrye I hope all is ok with your heart! That’s a bit concerning as well.💜

Thanks Diana. I mispoke when I said my symptoms occurred in January. It was actually October. After I started insuring I was well hydrated before my workouts the dizziness etc. went away. I saw the Heart rate specialist in January. When he looked at the results of my Holter monitor, he didn't see anything he felt was concerning. I go back in April with a followup with my Cardiologist.
