O M G. The BF came back from his trip and he has decided to become a vegan! This is a guy who eats steak twice a week, and chicken on the other days. His friends basically fed him vegan food for two weeks and took him to the gym and then the beach every day. He had a great time and his friend and the friend's wife are great cooks. I think the only thing I would worry about is Vitamin B levels, but overall there is nothing bad about him really taking care of his health by eating whole foods and a plant-based diet. Annoyed that he has decided to eat the Impossible foods (sausages to start with) but he's paired this plan with one that also avoids alcohol, so double good for him!
I have never had the desire to be a vegetarian or vegan. I just know I don't want to avoid meat. Lots of demonization of meat and dairy and what I know is that it's the overeating that makes people fat or sick not meat. I have been working on eating whole foods for a long time, just I eat a lot of them. I also don't drink much alcohol and overall will also benefit from my dining partner not drinking. He doesn't encourage me to drink, but if he has a glass of wine I usually do too. I am the designated driver always because he is legally blind and not allowed to drive.
Just over 800 calories today, and too much bread! The toffee cookies are gone, thank goodness! Tomorrow I am going to a birthday dinner to a food tasting. Not going to even pretend that I am going to hit the 500 tomorrow! The pic is my littlest bear watching me bake dinner rolls for Thanksgiving, now frozen and ready to go.

I was a vegetarian and it didn't work for me at all - ended up in the hospital with vitamin deficiencies. My labs went from good to bad on it. My BP went up. So no more vegetarian diets for me. They are not for everyone.

It was nice having his friends prepare tasty vegan food for him. In the real world I think being vegan is a lot of work. Hope he likes to cook for himself. I'd absolutely hate it if Hubby went that route (never gonna happen) cause I wouldn't want to prepare meals for both of us.

If the boyfriend is eating Impossible Foods (or any freezer item from Morningstar Farms, Dr. Praegers, Amy's, Gardein, etc.), then he is eating Processed Vegan, not whole foods. There's more foods to choose from, of course. There shouldn't be any vitamin deficiency if he eats items fortified with the B12 (soymilk, cereal, nutritional yeast, etc.), or he can simply pop a vitamin. It's the same as any diet where you're watching your sodium, protein, vitamins, etc. I find it extremely easy -- just shop from the produce section and the dried beans/legumes -- but if he's never done this himself he should visit a registered dietician to create a menu, or at least pick up a book for guidance. Good to hear he kept an open mind with friends and had a positive experience.

As a side note, my mother is/was legally blind. She had coke-bottle eyeglasses but still drove (the glasses improved her vision to the DMV-required distance). Then she had LASIK surgery and ditched her glasses. So the BF may want to head to the optometrist for an updated prescription and then retake his driver's test. Or just get the referral for Lasik. I certainly hope he's not trying to loop you into being his personal chef or chauffeur; I cast a wary eye on the dating pool of available men and the ones who want to be waited on.

Going vegan is simple. Very simple.

Eating vegan at home is simpleā€¦ what complicates it is when two people are not on the same page about it. Best wishes staying true to yourself while supporting your partner
