Day 1 of a planned 2 days of eating

If I don’t eat any solid food (just drink protein shakes), until 6:00pm and I run 11 miles today, I should drop 1-2 pounds…

As a side note, I thought that the bullying behavior had 'gone down' on this site, but the 'usual suspects' are back (sigh). Well I will continue to hit the *DELETE* button on their comments without reading them. When I see multiple comments I hit the button to report them as abusive.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

@br_e_co - Haha I gotta lean hard on the things I seem capable of doing :) What sucks is that I have hit a point where 'lifting heavy' at the gym seems to be something I no longer have the mental or physical desire for 😫 - - I know the running isn't helping the 'lifting weights' (it totally depletes my glycogen needed to lift heavy), but, it doesn't *hurt* my weight loss and I look forward to it and enjoy it. However, for those who can and enjoy lifting I encourage them because when I was doing it my body looked better. However, at 50+ years of age I-am-not-the-same as I was 2 years ago...

sure, man, i am 51 - so i understand the perspective. trust me, i don't lift heavy - i work to be functionally fit - and do love resistance workouts - but i put a lot of "volume" in my workouts vs a lot of weight. and i always do compound movements, single arm/leg movements, unbalanced movements on bosu ball, etc. i think i am pretty strong for my size, but i am not big. and with the other topic you are referring to - i think i understand your perspective - my thought is "to each, their own" - no one thing appeals to or works for everyone. that being said, i do think resistance training is imperative, especially when folks in our age bracket get to our 70's. but again, that's my personal opinion.

though i will add - and i don't do it now due to knee issues - when i was running, maybe 3 miles a day, i did drop some serious belly fat. i was amazed. but my knee got so bad that walking caused pain. so i try to replicate that in my combo HIIT-Resistance training and weave in cardio (today i will do 60 minutes, inclined, on elliptical, for example)

Hope you have a good day Adef. I love running as well. Just important to do what you like to do when you work at maintaining.

Hope the day goes as planned!

@br_e_co - My knees gave out on me in my 30's! 😆 I mean totally. I was in so much pain, and being 50 pounds heavier was not helping-at-all! However, running was the only exercise I felt I could do. Then a friend introduced me to the Pose Method: https://posemethod.com/ Changed-my-life 😁👍🏾 Now I am 51 years old, same bad knees, but, I can do up to 11 miles. Just my story, 'your mileage may vary'...

@liv001, @Fritzy 22 - Thank you for your support! Yeah, its just a daily thing. We do what we can. Sometimes we fail, we start over. No matter what, however, 😎 Life is Good!

@Adef thanks for sharing the pose method. I’m searching for breakdown videos of the method. A lot of brief marketing videos out there. If I can adopt it and my knee survives that well may change my life too!

found this one that makes a lot of sense to me and provides distinct instruction: https://youtu.be/ThXF9ZUiyGY

@moufette123 - Thanks! Yeah, these people will always be here and they-will-never-change. Periodically I have to remind them that I will never change either - Eventually the Fat Secret admins will either do something or get rid of me so I stop complaining 🤣

@br_e_co - Sorry! Didn't mean to drop you into their 'sales pitch'. Yeah I just watched a YouTube video on it and then practiced it. Looks like you found what works for you 👍🏾 Basically I lean forward and barely pick up my feet. It doesn't look 'cool' but, my knees cannot take the 'pounding' of a 'normal gait'.

Good luck Adef on your program, hope you see the results you're looking for!! My knees are suspect too Adef, lost my right meniscus 22 years ago and currently rehabbing a grade 1-2 MCL sprain-tear in my right knee from a Dec 2 ski trip. Biking, cross country skiing and elliptical have helped maintain their functionality for my everyday life and downhill skiing...unfortunately no running for me. I also agree with Br_e_co that resistance training is necessary, in fact essential to lean muscle maintenance and health. Keep on keepin on!!

Super jealous here. One of my childhood memories is going jogging with my father. At age 30 I had my first back surgery (of 4) and a spinal cord injury. No more running in my future. I AM allowed to bike and might be able to go back to the elliptical (I don't have access to one). I absolutely love the feeling I get when riding my bike...as my whole body feels great (except for my hip). Hmmm, to change it up maybe try spinning? Spinning is AWESOME and weight WILL drop! Of course you would sacrifice building again. Just shouting out an idea! Sorry about the meanies you encountered, too. :0)

@binkytexas - Thanks! :)

Binkytexas: I agree with you - nothing feels like a bike. I was riding almost everyday for 5 years and had some health problems and I think it is time to get back in the saddle so to speak. I ride the trails in our city and they are amazing. In fact I can go 300 + miles all the way to DC. Ok, I'll start with 10 :)
