Fritzy 22's Journal, 17 November 2019

I finally opened the container of mixed nuts from Costco and weighed 1 once and put in snack baggies. Not many nuts and 180 calories and only 2 grams of protein. I'm better off with the raw almonds I eat most days to get some protein. And I realize now why I have such a problem with the mixed nuts. I would normally eat 3-4 ounces at least or about 700 calories. There are 40 servings in the container. It still looks full after I took out 5 servings. I may have to give the rest of the nuts away when I get home. I'll probably take them to my niece's house on Thanksgiving.

I like nuts but they can be problematic since they are so addictive. I think the nutrients and healthy fats can be worth it if I can portion them out. I never eat peanuts. Those I am too addicted to. Probably one of my favorite foods ever peanuts.

Yea, I gave up nuts a long time ago when I realized they have way more fats than proteins. They are tasty, though. Fats have over twice the amount of calories as carbs or proteins. Supplement my protein with a protein drink now.

Good portion control.

Love nuts. Almonds are definitely filling. I found portioning out a serving and keeping up with fluids, I only eat 1/4 to a serving. I keep them at work for my long shift. I buy them at home but rarely touch them. My trouble is the mixed sweet nuts brought over to us by our neighbor. I take a few and keep it moving

You can always make nut butters and store them. They also make great gifts.

I love nuts and portion control is hard. Probably cause a serving is so dang small!

Thanks evryone. Didn't do so good with the nuts. And after all your support! Did fine to start with, had one little 1 oz bag one the drive. Check in is 3pm and not a moment sooner. It was dark just before 5 and around 7:30 I got into the nuts! Seemed like such a small amount. Altogether I had 4 ounces yesterday. Logged 2 for yesterday and 2 for today. So will actually eat less today to stay within my goals. I've logged what I plan to eat but that could fall apart.

I count out 23 raw almonds (1 oz.) once a day, if at all. Cashews are impossible to resist, though!

Mira I count almonds too. Usually have 10-20 a day for protein. I enter by the number of almonds. Never weigh them. Never tempted to over eat raw almonds. But nuts that are roasted and salted are too hard too resist

Nuts... Well anything snacky and savory is my real downfall! Good you track em! Hang tight! ❤️

I love nuts but sometimes get in trouble with them due to the calorie to protein ratio. I try to eat them in moderation. They give me the most problems when I eat them as a midnight snack...

I weighed out my almonds just once and now I assume that 23 whole equals one ounce. Oh, I can't trust myself with roasted-and-salted cashews, Starbucks creme brulee almonds, or and honey-bourbon or praline pecans. The bottom of the can/jar/bag is my "limit"!
