keto mostly carnivore gal. Lately my ketones have been about one when I wake up , and about 1.5 after about six hours. I usually eat one meal a day and that keeps my keto up consistently . If I eat a snack before bed they are always lower in the morning . Even if the snack is carnivore . when I am one hundred percent meat, and no cheese and dairy slipups, my ketones run 1.5+ 2.5 in the morning. after I work my shift, I take a half hour walk and my ketones actually go up after walking . seen some people report their ketones go down after exercise. I don't care what my ketones are during the day I'm basically using my morning ketones and six hours or seven hours after I wake up for my comparisons. I hope that information is interesting.I am still experimenting and will continue counting. I'm curious as to how I will feel if I can get my keto consistently above two. (if I can without long term fasting).

Sounds good :) What is the status on the protein reduction?

Adefwebserver since I went to the party I haven't been counting. I'll start that up again probably tomorrow. Thanks. I feel a whoosh coming lol 😆😹

How do you measure your ketones?

@jenjabba - I was just curious. Also, I don't think your protein is that high anyway. I was doing 100-150g+ a day! This is the level that I think Dr. Fung was talking about https://idmprogram.com/how-much-protein-is-excessive/

J8wave I have a blood tester, ketocoach, cheapest test strips. BUT, YOU can use cheap urine strips from Wal-Mart or Walgreens. Urinanalysis Ketone Test Strips My test strips confirm blood levels. If you drink a lot of water, sometimes the pee strips show less, and if your dehydrated they show more. They test a biproduct. If your starting, get the pee sticks and cut them in half to get twice the amount.

Adefwebserver, ya but youzz got muscle lol. I am only 5'3 and not lifting yet. I'm still exhausted daily. If I wasn't tired I'm sure I'd be losing weight. I should have enough cash to see a new doc this month. Dang house taxes are killing me 😭

Thank you for sharing the ketones testing details! I’m heading to the shop now

Interesting! My ketones are seldom over 0.7 (keto mojo tester), maybe because I am still working on improving my insulin sensitivity. I asked VirtaHealth about ketone test results in their T2D reversal study, they said the average reading was 0.3. I find my BS can go way up after exercise, tells me my liver has figured out how to make glycogen with very low carbs (15 - 30 g per day) and moderate protein (75 - 90 g per day).

I've stopped testing. If I eat right, I can tell when I've got ketones circulating. If I slip up and overdue the carbs, I feel that too - sluggish and my BP goes up.

@Gz9gjg - Yes, even after water fasting for days I will go for a run and has a BS reading in the 90s (USA scale). What I love is that I feel *better* than I do when I get the glucose from dietary sources.

Thanks draglist, thanks adefwebserver

Adef, that's my take on low-carb/keto. My aims are to decrease BS, increase insulin sensitivity, and cease insulin and BP meds.

Unfortunately I never feel "good" I rarely go over 20 carbs . I'm always in ketosis. Good thing about keto, no blood pressure meds needed anymore. I also had a continuous glucose monitor for a week and and my blood sugar didn't move all week. Nice.

Sounds like very good things!!!

Jenjabba- good work normalizing your BP and kicking those meds. Also on normalizing the blood sugar. That's what keeps the cravings at bay - no blood sugar swings. Are you exercising, too?

Erika thank you, yup, I walk my dog twice a day, half hour. I can't do anything else, in I'm too tired. I know a lot about exercise. I use to train people and worked in a fitness resort. Hopefully I'll get back to it. I'm way better than I was a year ago.
