59Carol's Journal, 09 June 2019

In all the times that I have embarked on weight loss -- and there have been many!-- I have never taken my measurements and tracked them. This time I took my measurements early in November. I did it again in January and now I did it again yesterday. There are 7 measurements - neck, bicep, chest, waist, hips, thigh, and calf. I get my sister to do the measurements for accuracy sake. Since November I have lost 26 inches!! Isn't that exciting? During that time period I have lost 38 pounds. Very gratifying to see the loss through a lens other than the scale.

Yesterday I felt very capable and productive. I did a number of chores that have been the exclusive purview of my husband's! I cut down volunteer poplar, moved a huge power pole with the help of my sister (ended up having to roll it into place), loaded up the 500 gallon water tank onto the truck (also got my sister to help me), then cut rhubarb at a friend's house for future kombucha, did a dump run, maneuvered the 3/4 ton truck around construction to load it 3 times with water, drove to a nearby town and picked up my two weed eaters and gas push mower from the repairman (got the fellow to show me how they operate as I have never used a weed eater before!) and came home and froze the rhubarb!

Today I plan to use those weed eaters and mower. I practiced getting each of them going with the repairman but now I will have to do it solo. I am excited to not only mow the lawn but to actually finish it so it looks nice.

WOW! You're a one-woman work crew! Great exercising! Are you always that active, physically? A LOT of that stuff could have gone into your Exercise Journal. It doesn't sound like you were just RESTING for almost 14 hours! At the very least, you could have included DRIVING, and GARDENING. I try to account for all of the hours of my day. You can even get credit for your time on the COMPUTER. It's quite gratifying to see how many calories are actually being burned during a day!

Hi Debbie. I do tend to be fairly physical most days or at the very least doing things steadily in the house. I don't track the exercise I do except my morning one hour routine as I see the stuff I do during the day as a 'bonus' in case my tracking isn't perfect. I believe it is more important for me to track the food as that is where the biggest bang for my effort occurs. Saying that, I managed about 5 hours of yard work today -- riding the mower (2 hours), using the gas powered push mower about 2 hours (I did not remember just how hard that can be!) and did a little weed eating (about 1 hour)until I did something to the line so it isn't feeding out anymore!
