katies71's Journal, 02 February 2019

I know it's fuzzy but guys!!!! I finally went past my goal!!! I am so excited! When I first started to diet way back in 2014 I weighed over 360 pounds. When I started here in April I weighed 333. It took me 4 years to lose not quite 30 pounds. When I re-started here in November I weighed 323 and now here it is Feb 2nd not quite 10 weeks later and I weigh 293 pounds. I am beyond excited. I lost more weight in this last few months than I did in 4 years! I am ready for my surgery and I know this will work. I know that I can do it this time. I'm going to lose it and never "find" it again!! I will never be skinny lol, I wasn't skinny when I weighed 125 pounds but I will be fit and healthy(ish) again!
292.9 lb Lost so far: 40.1 lb.    Still to go: 92.9 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

BRAVO, @katies71! You have, indeed, made great progress! Don't let anybody discourage you by implying that having GBS is "cheating!" Even after the surgery, you have to remain VERY disciplined! Don't do as I did - went back to drinking carbonated beverages. That was the hardest thing for me. I felt as if I had lost my best friend when I was abstaining. It's been 14 years since I had my surgery. I lost 115 pounds (from 302-187) and kept it off for about 8 years. Then, I stayed between 198-202 for a few more years before I started packing the weight back ON until I topped out at 248. One fun tip - invest in a few really pretty saucers or salad plates - all different designs, and plate your smaller portions on them! The little bit of food you can have after surgery looks very depressing on a full-size dinner plate! It looks beautiful on a smaller plate, and psychologically makes you feel like you are having MORE food than you really are. Eat SLOWLY, Take TINY bites, Chew WELL (and then chew some more!) May God be with you through your surgery and recovery. If you need some encouragement or have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly!

I'm sitting here at my desk crying like a ninny thank you guys so much. You have been absolutely ESSENTIAL to my weight loss journey! You have never let me go even a day without some sort of encouragement even when it was just for my comments on other peoples posts. I couldn't do it without you!
