I am a 7-12 grade teacher. I fell off the stage at our Christmas concert and tore my meniscus. I weighed about 275. Over Christmas, having been told by the doctor to basically not move for 3 weeks, I ballooned right up to 300 lbs. I have been unable to do much exercise since though I did do 10 weeks of physical therapy. I am awaiting surgery at the end of July. I decided that this summer while I await surgery (and teach summer camp) since I can't do much exercise, I would focus on healthy eating. I am hoping this site can help me with my very long journey.

Update: Lost an initial 35 pounds through calorie counting but it, plus more, crept back up on me. I restarted in August 2018 at 292. Currently, losing and loving my keto WOE.

Migraine Question
My doc gave me topamax. Some people call it dope a max. I started listing to one side and my word recall went down the tubes. After about 10 days I started a whole body rash. So I am leery of the beta blockers. However, if I was in enough pain, I would have pursued them further. I was originally have 3 - 5 a month. Then I had a uterine ablation and they went away completely. Now they are back, every day but just the ocular ones, so minimal pain. Thank goodness.

Migraine Question
Thank you. I will investigate that. After the birth of my second child, I have migraines monthly but were tied to my cycle. But I had 2-3 a month this past three weeks I have had around 8! So either, my hormones are really wonky, (please God let it be menopause!) or it something else. Since it seems to be targeted to a time of day lately, and isn't the lay in the bed in the dark kind, I think it must be something else. I appreciate your input wholefoodnut.

Migraine Question
Ah...sodium....now there's a thought. I just had my blood work done about 6 weeks ago and my sodium was just barely low. I have to take my son to see our doc in two weeks, I will mention it to her. Thanks for the suggestion

Migraine Question
Hi all,
Can someone give me a little insight, please? About a month ago I decided to make some healthy changes. I have over 100 lbs to lose and the thought of tackling it all at once is overwhelming. I started out concentrating on getting a sufficient amount of sleep and eating breakfast everyday. I stayed under the FS recommended 2100 calories each day.

I have lost a few lbs and I realized that I, without realizing it have, cut out most white sugar and flour. My calories this last week, after my best friend left have been ranging between 1200 and 1500. This week, I have been teaching at summer camp and have had a migraine EVERYDAY between 1:30 - 2:30. What is up with that?

Any ideas? I am still drinking tea so I think my caffeine intake is steady. Could it be sugar? I am eating fruit everyday.

Anyway, if you read this much, thanks and if you have any thoughts for me, I will appreciate it. The migraines are ocular and with mild pain. So thank goodness, not the debilitating ones!
