🍽️ I’m so ‘over’ eating.

Yesterday was an eating day, but, also stressful because I stood in front of nearly 100 people giving a live demonstration of complex computer programming. If I mistype one line, and can’t quickly figure out what mistake I made, I not only embarrass myself, but I disappoint the people paying me good money. Anyway, I got through the day, but calories were almost 4k. The carbs were nearly a MONTHS worth of carbs at over 260.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to ‘control my eating’ so I didn’t try. The only way to stop it would have been to declare a ‘no solid food fast’. Problem was they were paying me to host a lunch that afternoon. This would be a case where a person would have a drink, I don’t drink, so I had the Churros…

I mean, I could still keep eating, but, the compulsive nature of it is tiring. Basically, I’m trying to 🍩 ‘fill the hole in the donut’. Not only can't this not be done, because the hole metaphysically ‘grows’ the more you try to fill it, but, it doesn’t need to be filled. 🧘🏾 This is what fasting teaches me.

🏋🏾‍♂️ I hope to put all his glycogen to good use in the gym today when I get home  I have been lifting 160lbs. I am going to try to do 170-180lbs today.

Next week I am going to consume fat bombs during the day and have a protein shake at night. Dr. Jason Fung, in a recent podcast https://unbeatablemind.com/jason-fung/ ,
indicated that high amounts of protein can still trigger an insulin response. So, consuming massive amounts of it may not have been helping me. Looks like I may have to remove that can of protein powder off my desk at work.

Mostly, the podcast reminded me that the BIGGEST issue is ‘snacking all day’. I need to have at least 6 hour stretches of the day where I consume only water. So, I will see how the fat bombs work, but if they cause any issues I will go back to only drinking only Green Tea during the day.

This is starting next week. This week I have too much travelling and unusual schedules…

have you had your thyroid T4 T3 free, and antibodies checked along with hormone panel? there could be something more triggering that stress eating and difficulty losing. congratulations on making it through the presentations! what does Jason Fung have to say about protein shakes? hmmm. have a great day!

@jenjabba - I'm not gonna try to 'fix' my eating, just plan my life around it, like missing a leg :) Dr. Fung does not approve of my shakes, Splenda, a bunch of things, But, just following 50% of his suggestions (like fasting) has changed my life. He also recommends fasting to offset 'feasting'. This is what he does.

@srossca - It was extreme for me, but half the people on this site would laugh at 200 carbs :)

Not the Carbs, the 4K.

It seems like you have been doing really well. Visible improvements in your photos. You already know one day is not a deal breaker. I'm not sure what you are worried about, that makes you feel the need to change your current plan?

the fact bombs will be very dependant on what is put in them. your personal sugar product will boobie trap things. You should have some protein in them and a lot of fat. Yes too much protein does complicate things, 60 to 80grams would be lower range for you on fasting days. pump days you could have more for the energy for the workout. I range around 100 grams with equal or more fat. You would burn that off in a heart beat. fat does not raise glucose much if any and a moderate amount of protein helps to keep you level. for your fasting routine you can test the level that works best for you. but it will take a while to get your body to level out from the carb fest. you can not get accurate reading on testing levels of fat and protein until you clear the deck so to speak. your fasting will take care of that. I am still tracking to level how my adjustments work and it seems I stay more level at the 80 to 100 and similar fat. My reading this morning was stable high ketone of 3.9 and 4.6 with the glucose. It sounds like your presentation went well and congrats on your success. always look for the silver lining!

@srossca - Oh yeah 4k was too much. I could have done 8k had I not taken some melatonin and went to bed.

@Baskington - I will keep that in mind next week.Thanks.

@TomLong - The change is that consuming high amounts of protein through the day was like snacking through the day and not giving my insulin a chance to fall. I was only looking at carbs but protein causes insulin spikes too. The fat bombs may be better but if my body uses it for energy I am now preventing it from using my body's fat as I want. So what I should do is just drink green tea during the day. But that is hard to do long term. protein shakes are easy to do long term. couldn't do it yesterday because I was travelling, so that is why I would normally fast...

to burn off the carbs I agree you should do the tea for a day or two. and yes too much protein like your 100 to 120gr kind of defeats the purpose of a no food fast. great for a work out but during the day all day you are totally right your ketones won't rise and the glucose won't drop. It is a bitch when something you enjoy causes issues

Don't get discouraged. You are operating from a point that is new to you. You've always adjusted according to your weight and you've reached those goals, so you can do it again. I hope you continue to do and be well on your work trip. 😊👍

I am learning so much from you guys. I thought you could have as much protein as you wanted, did not know about spiking insulin levels. Good to know.

@Baskington - My hope is that I can find a happy place with one fat bomb during the day and a protein shake at night. @PrincessValerie already made them and they are ready to go...

When I was on keto, fat bombs really helped with curbing appetite. Go team M&V! 😊

Congrats on the successful presentation - I always used to hate them - I used to get so nervous trying to type things because you are right - one wrong character and the whole thing can go up in smoke! Great job and don't sweat the food!

Adef, do you eat breakfast? I have generally found a protein breakfast - eggs scrambled in butter - and a small lunch, with hot drinks all day, keeps my hunger at bay. If I feel more hungry than usual, I'll have a cup or 2 of hot bouillon. I don't use any sugar or substitute, because once I start, I just want more!
