its so annoying that a small apple has 12 net carbs. I mean its still less than a banana but jeez. I wanted a after dinner "sweet" so I decided to treat myself and made a small fruit salad with blueberries, strawberries and the smallest apple in the world but it still had a huge impact on my net carbs. But you know what? I dont give AF.. an apple is apple for pete's sake, i could have had a blizzard, sheesh.. ill go super low carb to make up for it tomorrow and Im not going to let myself feel guilty for enjoying a piece of fruit. I just needed to post that and get that out so I dont stress over that apple all night LOL, ya im a dork like that. Ill spend the whole night googling apples till i fall asleep.. I'm slacking on my water today and about half way there bc i forgot my water bottle when i went out today BUT there is still time to make it up..Other than that, today was productive and I remembered to LOG everything..

they say it takes more calories to digest an apple than the apple actually has. So maybe it won't have to bad of an impact on the carbs. My hubby is diabetic and he eats apples, grapes also.

LOL - I know he feeling. I had one Clementine a couple days ago! A darn Clementine! You know those teeny tiny orange like things...something like 8 carbs! I say I am not gonna sweat a little fruit...and I mean little!

Fruit has health benefits that we all need in moderation. I would not sweat it because your body needs the nutrients provided in fruit.

I ate a banana then saw the carbs. My trainer has me on 120 carbs per day and that banana took 20! My hubby kept asking what was wrong...I was spitting nails! I laugh about it now but my next banana will be in six months!

Steven L. is right. There are a lot worse things than an apple. You've come so far that an apple will not trip you up.

The grapefruits and oranges are so good down here in the Rio Grande Valley and they are ripe on the trees right now. I did treat myself to 1 grapefruit which I split over 2 days, it blew my carbs but I know it has good vitamin C and fiber which helps lower cholesterol. Sometimes we have to treat ourselves and fruit is a healthy treat.

But look at it this way it is a natural sugar and carb not processed

Go for the apple. Better than eating some crappy low carb 2 net carb protein bar that was made in a factory with all kinds of junk in it

Nothing against all my FS friends on Atkins or LCHF type diets, but this is my concern with these diets (I've done them)... Sure the mechanics work and your body burns fat... but you give up eating real foods that were DESIGNED to be eaten! In the long run this does not pass the sanity check for me. Think back a few thousand years... what would you have eaten in a non indutrialized society? I suspect, primarily whatever you could pick from a tree, a bush, a plant, a vine, or whatever roots you could dig out of the ground. If you ate animal protein, I suspect it would have been in small quantities... something you could kill with your hands or a primative weapon, and small enough not to spoil before you could eat it all. I'm no paleontologist, but my pea brain tells me that's not much of a stretch. Having done Atkins before, I much more prefer the sanity that comes with BALANCED nutrtion. I eat protein and fat, and clean carbs for the most part, including fruits of any kind... and still managed to lose 84 lbs of fat, and gain some muscle...all while aversging 300+ carbs a day. I skipped breakfast today and I am still at 205 carbs so far today... I even ate some BAD carbs (tortilla chips), but avoided a whacked out insulin response by doing so in moderation (skipped the fajita wrap). Again, I know those diets work, but the restrictions dontpass final muster for me in the long run.

An apple a day does keep the doctor away. At least for me.

I get apples for the bird, in the morning he gets his slice and i eat the rest (about 3/4's) on the way to work (with the factory made protein shake)...and there's the cantaloupe/honeydew melon that are sweet and low carb.

Fruit in moderation is fine when you've reached maintenance, as is most other carbohydrates. It's been my experience with an LCHF diet that people that don't follow an LCHF lifestyle don't really tend to understand an LCHF lifestyle.

Apples good in small amounts, apple juice bad! Bananas bad. Juices spike insulin, which makes you crave more food.
