Like many, I've lost weight in the past. Last time I lost 30 lbs on Fat Flush Plan and kept it off within 5 lbs. for 5 year. But after moving to another country and back and other life stresses, the weight crept back up, although thankfully not as high.
The latest high was also my lowest health point. In may of 2009, weighing 163 lbs. (I'm only 5'1"), I ended up in an emergency room with chest pains and shortness of breath. It wasn't a heart attach, but the tests I had in the hospital revealed a grim picture: high cholesterol, blood sugar in pre-diabetic range, high blood pressure. A few months later I was diagnosed with premature menopause.
My main motivation for losing weight is to get my fasting blood sugar under 100 (maybe even under 90). Secondary motivation is lighten the load on my knees and other joints, so I can continue to be as active as before and dance and bike and ski and run.
