In 2002 I lost 37 lbs in 4 months on the Atkins diet with no exercise (I went from 155 lbs to 118 and from a size 16 pants to size 6).I slowly regained about 15 lbs over the last 9 years and then another 15 or so since I quit smoking on July 14th 2011.It feels so good to finally be free from cigarettes!! I anticipated a weight gain so I wasn't too surprised but it still hurt to watch the numbers on the scale rise. Fortunately since I don't smoke anymore I can run (my favorite exercise) without becoming short of breath. This time I also do some light weight training along with the Atkins diet.

I love fatsecret. It keeps me motivated and excited about taking good care of myself. It's very comforting to know we're all in this together:)

Does coconut oil help you stay in ketosis?
I have heard a lot of really good things about extra-virgin,organic coconut oil but I have a few questions. Does it help you stay in ketosis or help you lose weight? This is a hard question to put into words but I'm wondering...does it help you stay in ketosis because you are burning the coconut oil for fuel (therefore not burning your own body fat?) or does it actually assist is causing your body to use it's own stored fat as fuel and therefore lose weight?
