I'm a 42 yo mother of two girls ages 12 and 9. I lost 53 pounds from April 2009 through February 2010 by doing a combination of Weight Watchers and exercising (I started cycling after not being on a bike for 20 years!) I got down to about 116 pounds which was very difficult to hold, and ended up maintaining my weight at around 134 for about a year.
Then I hit a hiccup. My 11-year-old daughter got cancer last August. She had a liver transplant in February 2013 and is now cancer free and recovering. Meanwhile. I got a slow start to cycling this season, but I'm now riding 2 - 3 times per week and going to the gym twice a week. I feel heavy and slow, but I love my bike and I am grateful to have the time to ride it again. I'm grateful for every moment with my daughter too - she's six months post transplant as of 8/5 and doing well.
