I'm a 57 year old teacher who just had total knee replacement last November 07. I'd like to loose 10, actually 9.5 now! to get ready for bicycling season but also to keep extra strain off this new knee so it lasts longer than predicted 15-20 years. My husband and I tandem ride and he likes to keep total weight on the bike down so we can go faster. He's the main cook and very supportive. He also serves as my coach and trainer. I plan the menus and he executes. Here's to ten pounds by spring break.

If diet soda helps you control your weight that's good but there's a lot of junk in there that's not good for you. I gave it up about five years ago and switched to tea. I've even been trying to drink that unsweetened. Here's a link about recent research and diet soda that might make you rethink things.

NUTS anyone??
Short answer-Yes!
I'm also a nut addict but my downfall is almonds and pecans. I can easily go through a pound a week. All nuts even peanuts which are not really a nut at all, but a legume are full of healthy oils and in moderation are good for you but they are fat laden and one of my first moves when I'm trying to lose weight is to count my nuts, this helps stop mindless snacking. I also try my best to cut weigh back on salt when trying to loose weight. I feel better and the scales respond.

Calories/points.
I'm wondering if you can set your own points for Weight Watchers? My profile seems to be showing a calorie count of only 835 calories. This does not seem like enough, especially for someone who tries for at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise every day. I'm 5'6" tall and weigh 161. It's kind of discouraging to be "good" eat healthy foods and see that you're not meeting the bench mark.
