Hello all . I am 33 years old. I am a single mom of three great kids and work as a nurse. My weight hit an all time high when I was in nursing school , by the time I graduated I was at 250 without even realizing it happened. I spent all my time trying to handle the kids and studying and we ate junk and well here I am. Its funny how time passes and life gets in the way and these things happen. I guess I have been in denial for a while and just haven't done anything to change my weight. I have decided that now is the time. For ME , for my health , for my kids. I want to be healthier and feel good. I am not dieting because diets are a yo-yo and I have done that yo-yo for years. I am changing my lifestyle , changing my eating habits and becoming more active. Would love to find some buddies on here.

I agree ... it comes at you from all angles ... The one thing I am starting to truly believe is that only we can decide what is right for us and what works for us. I have gotten to the point in the last couple months that I wont even entertain some peoples conversation regarding the subject. I would rather just agree to disagree. Last week there was a girl at work who is heavier than me talking about how I needed a "plan" such as the one she had recently paid for. And then I saw her eating pizza , broccoli cheese soup, mountain dew and a ho-ho. Now I dont mean to sound rude but She may as well have burnt her money because obviously the " plan " she paid for with pills and shakes and what not is no way going to work is she eats like that.

Diffence in carb values
You maybe be getting a different number if you are looking at Carbs and not NetCarbs. If you take the Carbs and subtract the fiber , that will give you the NetCarbs. Atkins goes by NetCarbs. If you go to your settings on here you can change it to show you either carbs or netcarbs or both. Hope that helps .

More than glad to help with support ... The support you will find here is AWESOME and motivating ... helps me a ton ... sometimes having a weak moment and I jump on here and read the journals instead of eating something that I know I shouldnt. I dont understand your theory in blaming fatsecret if you arent losing weight as fast as you would like ... This site is merely a place to find support. The advice given here is coming from people who are trying to lose weight and some who have lost ALOT of weight , some advice good and some advice not so good. However we each have the power to follow or not follow any advice given. We also can research and learn , knowledge is power. I personally think this site and the people here are amazing ... I am amazed at the amount of support to be found here and I think that is an important factor , WE NEED SUPPORT ! I love reading the journals and seeing others achieve , it motivates me to strive for more. Also , its not like we cant use this site and others as well. In my opinion this is a very hard journey, there are struggles and it is NOT easy. I personally will accept all the support I can get, and in return I will cheer on and support the people I am finding here because I want to see us all win this battle : )

Favorite HEALTHY Recipes
Thanks mahogany ... I made broiled cod last weekend and it was fantastic... just squeezed some lemon and sprinkled some dill and black pepper on it ... I loved it and will be buying it ALOT more. I am trying to try new fishes because for some reason I didn't think that I liked it and I am realizing that I really do : ) And its a super healthy option. And thank goodness my kids are loving it as well.
