37 year old married mom of 2. Never lost my baby weight, and my "baby" just turned 7. I'm at my heaviest weight ever (208), and it is time to get in gear!

(Disclaimer - technically, this is only my heaviest non-pregnant weight, but sadly I was only a couple of pounds bigger at my heaviest pregnant weight as well.) :(

I'm lucky that so far I haven't had any real health complications from my weight gain. However, I don't want to tempt fate - eventually it will catch up with my health, and I want to get the pounds off before that happens!

Hummus Anyone??
I enjoy plain hummus, but I think some of the other flavors help "non-hummus" people give it a try.

My husband doesn't like plain hummus at all. I've tried different brands - it just isn't his thing. However, I can get him to eat roasted red pepper hummus. I think for some people the other flavors make it more tolerable.

Foot problems? Flips flops? What to do for summer?!
My husband has it, but he is stubborn and wears whatever shoes he wants anyhow. I just smile through clenched teeth when he complains of pain, trying as hard as possible not to say "I told you so." Smile

(He was also just diagnosed with gout, which should be a real treat when he has foot pain from gout flare-ups AND plantar fasciitis. Sigh...)

5K ???
I took a run with my dogs on Tuesday night.

I'm thinking perhaps I can get some additional motivation from knowing that the more energy my dogs burn, the better behaved they will be at home. Smile

Also, one of them got a little pudgy over the winter, and could probably stand to lose a few pounds as well. LOL.

Fortunately, I'm still building up my running endurance, so I'm definitely not pushing my dogs past their limits. They probably have way more endurance than I do right now. Smile_

Hummus Anyone??
Anyone know where to find tahini? That has always been my roadblock to trying to make my own. I don't know if traditional grocery stores carry it - what aisle would it be found in?

I suppose there may be some specialty markets near me that might stock it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Smile

I love hummus - if making my own would be more cost-effective and/or potentially healthier, I'd love to give it a shot.

Whey Proteins.....what can you do with it?
Ingria wrote:
1 cup of low fat cottage cheese gives you almost 30 g of protein at around 160 calories. It is mostly casein, as whey is the second milk protein that is mostly byproduct of cottage cheese production. There is an ongoing debate which one is better for post workout versus pre work out consumption as 1 is absorbed faster than the other, but both are good. And cottage cheese tastes better than protein powder.

I wish I could make myself like cottage cheese, but I just don't like all!

My parents used to serve it all the time when I was a kid, and I never liked it then.

Have tried it several times as an adult, just to see if I could get myself to acquire a taste for it. (There are plenty of things I didn't like as a kid that I enjoy now as an adult - was hoping to do the same with cottage cheese.) Smile

Nope. Just don't like it. What a bummer!
