My weight problems started about 10 years ago. I started making a living as a Truck driver and I quit smoking cigarettes at the same time, a real double whammy. I was replacing smokes with food during cravings and eating at truck stops which dont have the healthiest menus. As a driver there was a lot of down time. Long boring hours stuck at truck stops. I found myself eating just out of boredom thinking "why amy I eating? Im not even hungry"
I gained weight so fast that I got stetch marks on my belly. It was embarrasing.
I no longer drive over the road but I have been struggling with the weight ever since. It is hurting my health. I am on Blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, acid reflux meds, Testosterone replacement and E.D. drugs that are all related to my weight. It is time to make a change. My daughter is 7 years old now and if I dont make some changes I may not see her as an adult. That is a major fear now. I have tried Atkins and Weight Watchers and they both worked to some extent but I had trouble sticking to it. I have decided that I dont need fad diets. I know what to do. I just need to stay focused.
I am doing it now and feel good about it. I am using fat secret to track my calories and staying near 2000 a day. I am alternating between jogging and cycling 4 days a week and I am strength training 3 days a week. It is working. As of this week (new years) I am down almost 30 pounds since nov. and my B.P. is down. My clothes fit better and my endurance is up. I still have a long way to go but I feel confident about this effort. I have started growing a beard and I have told my wife I will not shave it until I am 200 pounds. By that time I should look like ZZ top. :) The facial hair is my reminder to stay on track. Silly but just me.

The ticker at the bottom of my posts has gone blank and I dont know why. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

reccomendation for the protein shake powder
I buy the Body Fortress brand at Walmart and find it to be a good value. I have paid more for whey powder that I did not like as much. My favorite recipe is a blended smoothie that has

1/4 cup frozen Blueberries
1/4 cup frozen rasberries
1/2 cup all Natural vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup Orange/Pinapple juice
2 scoops body fortress vanilla whey powder
about 10 ice cubes, blended

I entered it into the database so its easy to log if anyone wanted to try it.

Cheat day
I was wondering how many of you allow yourselves a weekly meal that you eat whatever you want without counting or tracking the calories. A cheat day. I have been doing this every Saturday since I started tracking my weight. On Sunday through Friday I log every bite that I eat and I stick as closely as I can to my calorie allowance but on Saturday I cut loose. It seems to be working out as I am recording a weight loss every week and it gives me something to look forward to at the end of the week. Every time I get a craving during the week I start planning and thinking about what my cheat meal is going to be. Today it was Red Robin Burger and fries. That meal was probably close to what I allow myself in a whole day during the week. I feel guilty after doing it even though it is planned but I really think that my cheat meal helps me to stay on track the rest of the week. Sorry if I am rambling.Embarassed
