I am 28 years old living in new hampshire with my soon-to-be husband and our dog. I have a great job working at a magazine, although it doesn't give much chance to move around, I am mostly sitting at a desk all day. In the past 5 years we have settled down and bought a house, I also gained about 35 lbs. We were trying to get pregnant for about 2 years then I was diagnosed with PCOS.

We lead a pretty active lifestyle, hiking with the dog, playing golf in the summer and skiing in the winter - although these are usually weekend activities and not frequent enough to keep my weight down. So, I am also hoping if I change my eating habits and get some exercise in during the week, it will make our weekend excursions all that more pleasurable.

My goal is to lose that 35lbs, get back in shape for our wedding and hopefully by getting healthy also get my PCOS under control so that we can have a baby. And if the baby comes before the wedding, I am perfectly happy with that!

UPDATE: My father passed away on November 15, 2010 - he had a sudden heart attack. My family has a history of heart disease on both sides and my father also had diabetes. All the more reason to get in shape. I have seen too many of my family member die at a young age including my maternal grandfather (55), grandmother (74), and uncle (47) who died of heart attacks and my paternal grandfather (62) who had a heart attack.

UPDATE: Wedding date is set for July 10, 2011 - We are having a destination wedding in Montego Bay Jamaica!

BRAD BAD SUGA
I bought a can of chopped tomatoes, Delmonte brand I think. And when I got home and looked at it, I was angry to see the second ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup. What a waste. Why can't a can of tomatoes just be tomatoes!

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
1. People asking me if I'm pregnant and 2. my Father just passed away of a heart attack at 57. Someone at the wake actually asked me when I was due, like I don't already have enough stress and anxiety.

A new outlook
I went out with my mom and my sister for my sister's birthday and they ordered 2 appetizers and large entrees. I just had some of the appetizers and a salad for my entree. After eating some of the appetizers, I was too full to even think about having a steak and potatoes. I didn't even eat half of my salad.

A month ago, I would have ate bread, appetizers, and a whole entree and had a few sugary cocktails on top of that. It is amazing how quickly your mind set changes.
