Weight concerns have always been a theme throughout my life. I had poor self-esteem and a poor internal body image but now, when I look back at teenage pictures, it wasn't so bad. Now, I am focused on health more than being skinny. Being healthy is truly a form of wealth. And that's my goal.
My first on line group was Peer Trainer. They had some great challenges but it was tough to log the food. My next was LIVESTRONG aka My Plate. It's a good, ever evolving site but once again I stopped logging. My karate instructor encouraged me to use the smart phone app Calorie Counter which leads to Fat Secret. I like the bar code scanner. But I quickly quit here too. It’s about frustration. I have a really hard time eating enough good calories. I spent my teens and early 20s being extreme calorie restrictive so I've really messed my metabolism up. Now I pay the price. I know logging is key and so is exercise. Both activities come and go. I’m going to make a commitment of 6 months of logging and exercise and hope the scale moves down and the energy goes up finally.
I like Spinning, Bicycling, Karate, BodyRockTv, and will run some times. Life is busier than it needs to be so I need balance and it’s hard to do. Other than that, I am the usual - work full time, kids and a husband, housework, etc. I know longer want my commitment to exercise and myself to be second place though.
