Yo-Yo is the story of my life. But I will never stop trying to break that vicious cycle. I've been dieting since the 2nd grade. By the 6th grade I was over 200 lbs.

I'm 5'8" so I never expect to be a size 2 or 125 lbs. But a size 6 at 150 lbs would be perfect for my large bone structure. Sound unattainable? Well, here's my story.

I married at 19 and had the 1st of my 4 kids at 21. From that point on I fluctuated by 40+ lbs averaging at 270 for nearly 2 decades; capping at 301.

In 2004 the doctor told me I was a heart attack waiting to happen. I was only 39. Knowing that my next diet would be no different than the yo-yo result of the previous 50 diets I'd been on, I decided to have gastric bypass surgery (Roux en-Y). I dropped 151 lbs over the next 18 mos, ending 148 lbs; size 6. Plus, I cured my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure issues. Off all meds except for treatment of hypo-thyroidism. I felt great.

With my new size and outlook, I had the confidence to break out of the prison of my 22-year marriage to an alcoholic mentally abusive husband. That led to a whirl-wind romance with my current husband.

Sounds like a dream come true. Well for whatever the reason, the weight came back on - ~ 50lbs of the 151 lost. I grew from size 6 to size 12. Maybe it was the 2 miscarriages, maybe the failed fertility treatments, or the resulting depression. Regardless, my struggles are back.

I'm trying to stay focused on eating healthy and exercising consistently. Still balancing a full-time job, family, chores, leading a health&fitness ministry at church, and working out is challenging. There is never enough time to do it all.

It is the diet that I struggle with the most and where I need the most support because my relationship to food is more that just nourishment. That didn't change with the surgery. After all, you don't get to 301 lbs without having some type of relationship to food.

Anyone interested in starting the 21 day Metabolism Makeover Challenge
I'm just starting the 21 day metabolism makeover for the Robert Ferguson's Food Lovers Plan and want to know if anyone would like to start with me. Even if you've been on the program for a while, it never hurts to step back to the basics to kick start things again.

If anyone is interested, I can put the challenge out there and we can get started.

phone with applications
I have the iphone. It's works great with the app and sync's to the website nicely. I can log on either the phone or the website then chose which source should be updated. Good flexibility.

My legs seem huge
Women come in all shapes and sizes. Legs can be larger for some good and some bad reasons. If they are large because you are retaining water, then you need to flush it out. To do that drink more water and keep moving. Circulation can be reduced if you're stuck at a desk.

Legs can be larger because they have more muscle mass. That is perfectly fine. No one says that only stick skinny legs are sexy. Women can have curves. Toned muscular legs can be beautiful and healthy. If you are prone to building muscle easily, but don't want to build your quads or calves too large, talk to a trainer about alternatives. Squats and lunges with heavy weights can increase muscle mass. Lower weights w/higher reps will keep fit and tone without much mass increase.

Some women store fat in their legs but have very thin upper bodies. Unfortunately there is no spot weight loss, so cardio is the only focus to lowering body fat. But don't skip the weight training because the two work together.
