Thanks guys! I really appreciate the input and advice. Katherine, you are totally right about it being for ME and my own perspective. I know this sounds weird, but my friend- God love her she means well and doesn't think before she speaks- but being a fitness junky DOES have a habit of pointing out the spots I DO have going for me, validating the places I don't. So in some ways the people around me do unfortunately contribute to my self image. And when I tell them I know I'm fat, the common response amongst most is "well your boobs really grew! It's all in your boobs!" (I went from barely a 32B to a 34DD overnight it seems, at 30 years old! I am sure its all fat though!)

I think its hard though, because all of the people in my life, including my boyfriend, have been "Lifers" as far as friends go. I've almost all them since I was in grade school. When I was young, I was always super underweight without trying to be. I was just a very athletic and hyper kid! So I was always 86-94 pounds until about 23-25 where I finally broke 100! Then it just went rapidly downhill...

So that being what it was, the people around me constantly remark on "what happened to you?" and "Are you pregnant?" or "Is something wrong with you, is there a medical issue?" and I love that they love me enough to ask, and feel that we are in a good enough place to be comfortable asking honestly, but inside it cuts like a knife. So your comment about it being about ME and what I want and how I feel couldn't be more appropriate. Positive thoughts are definitely important, and the reminder of that matters a bunch. Thank you.

Thanks Luckydays! I am doing 2o minutes of walking for 3 miles right now every day, plus any housework I can scrounge up, so as my back gets better I will increase all that to include more- which hopefully (fingers crossed!) will be a week! I really appreciate the insight, that sounds discouraging up front but I need to turn it into a motivator instead! I WILL get there!!! Maybe I can do 20 minutes in the morning, and 20 minutes at night to split up the impact to my back and keep it light but also get the time in?? Or does that change what it does?? Also, I live in the mountains so there are inclines and everything that I hope increase the workout a bit!

Calories burned to pounds lost
Hello Everyone! I am new to this and need some assistance understanding the calorie burn to pound lost ratio.

I understand, that 3500 calories equal 1 pound. If I am eating 1200 calories a day roughly, burn 1800 a day, roughly- then how do I calculate the estimated pounds lost in a week based on that??

I'm standing in my best friend's wedding in 3 months and she is super fit and does marathons and everything and I really want to look good next to her! At the moment, I look like a beached whale when we pose for pictures together, ha ha ha! So it's not that I want to look like she looks and "show up the bride" but I DO want to enjoy the pictures we take together and have a great memory of this awesome moment in her life! I'm trying to figure out the pace I'm on given that time frame so I can get an idea of where I should be by then... Plus, I want to make sure I'm getting enough calories to avoid the starvation situation and still be where I feel good by July 5th!

Exercise has to be mild to moderate for a week or so as I threw my back out and need to slowly get myself back to square so I don't re-injure myself!

My stats are like this if it's needed:

31 year old female
5'1"
142.5 lbs.
I want to be 115 but could live with anything under 124lbs ...I think Wink

Thanks for your help dumming down the numbers for a mathless mind!! Smile
