My name is Amanda. My friends and family call me Mandie. I am 35 years old and 5'91/2" My start weight was 210lbs. My initial goal was 160lbs but I think I will be satisfied at 170lbs This is not my first time doing Atkins. It seems the more you start and stop this diet, the harder it is to committ and lose weight after you've started back. In the past, I was sucessful on Atkins, I lost over 50lbs in less than 5 months and this was done without any exercising! I was very happy with the way I looked backed then. As time went on, I went through the stress of buying a home, failed relationships, changing jobs and ongoing raising a child and slowly but surely I gained the weight back. I look at the clothes that I use to wear and I remembered just how happy I was back then.
Today I am back on Atkins and I am losing the weight. I am exercising and I am going to try to get involved in different types of activities. I have a workout partner who has turned out to be a true motivator. He is full of encouragements and compliments. We don't always see eye to eye on everything but we are making it through all the stress of dieting. We have lost so much weight so far and we intend to lose more.
When I stumbled on this site, I told my friend about it and he agreed that this would be a great site to get extra support. So here we are! So far this site has been great!
Thanks to each and every one of you for your support. Let's continue to support each other!

Odd Question
This diet has never failed me. I love the induction stage of Atkins. I can't speakon OWL, but induction is a sure thing if you do it by the book. You are going to have some people who tweek the diet and then complain when they don't drop the pounds, but if the diet is done correctly you will lose.

Hominy
Yea! That's exactly what it looks like.... corn that has exploded. Do you prepare it any other way except boiling it? I was so glad to come across it in the grocery store. I was literally picking up different vegetable cans and reading the nutrition labels. I was so desperate to find something different to eat. I am very happy to find it. It is a delicious addition to my meals!

Hominy
Has anyone ever tried a vegetable call Hominy? I tried it with butter and simmered it in a small pot. It was so good. I really can't describe the taste but it's very fulfilling. It's only 4carbs per 1/2 cup. It makes a great side dish.

MY SUGGESTIONS TO HELP DROP OFF THE WEIGHT !!!!
Thanks, this is really good advice. I wish I could get up in the mornings and exrcise. I already get up very early for work, I just can't see myself getting up any earlier....I don't know we'll see. I really want to try this because it sounds like a winner to me!
