So after a couple of weeks of not following the Slow Carb diet, I got back to it this week. The bitch of the thing is that last Saturday, I tore the Plantaris muscle in my right calf. This has meant I haven't been able to exercise this week which means I may not be able to test for my next belt in TKD on the 23rd. It also means I will not be running my first 5k at the end of this month. I will find one in August and hopefully be ready for it. I must remind myself that part of goal setting is occasionally renew your plan and your goal. They aren't set backs just adjustment that need to be made.

I lost 4 lbs this week and several inches. :) I still think I am retaining water, as I feel a little bloated and gained an inch in my waist. For me the strangest thing has been the number of people saying that they notice how much weight I have lost. I see it on the scale and I see it in my measurements, I even see it in the smaller sized clothes I have had to buy. When I stand in front of the mirror though, the change doesn't seem as drastic as others make it sound. I sometimes wonder if the image of "Ideal Me" which i carry in my head will ever match the image of "Real Me" reflected in the mirror. I guess, at the end of the day, I feel healthier and I am able to do more with my family, and that's all that really matters. :)

So for the last week I have not followed the Slow Carb protocol. I have kept track of everything I have eaten and all of my exercise. I took my measurements and there was no change. I have discovered two things: 1) When I eat carbs, I retain water and 2) Burning more calories then you eat, does not equal weight loss, at least not for me. I appear to be one of those people who ought not eat carbs and/or sugars. My energy levels and mood have been crap this week. Monday I will go back on the Slow Carb, I imagine I will have good week 1 results as I get rid of all of this water.

After 8 weeks on the Slow Carb diet I lost about 16 lbs, with which I am very pleased. This week I am going to body hack a little. I ma curious to see what will happen if I am not eating Slow Carb. I will continue with my exercising as I have been and with the gallon and a half of water I have been drinking a day. Also I will attempt to stay between 1800 and 2100 calories a day. I am however going to eat a few things such as crackers, bread, fruit and dairy to see how my weight and measurements are affected.
