Got serious in March 2008 about getting back in shape and set a goal of running the Rock & Roll Marathon in January. Joined Weight Watchers and dropped from 238 to 177 before Thanksgiving. Completed a couple of 1/2 Marathons in Oct & Nov, but had a bad day running in January and dropped out of the full marathon at the 18 mile mark. Frustrated, I let myself go over the spring and early summer and ballooned back up to 210+. Started 2009 running season, this time with my daughter, and dropped back down to sub 200. Completed the January 2010 Rock and Roll Marathon with my daughter. Felt good about completing it, but was a little disappointed in my time and overall condition as I was about 205 at race time.
Now I find myself back up to 220 in August 2010. I am starting running again, not sure if I will go for a marathon, but plan on using running to burn calories. My daughter just got engaged and will be busy over the winter planning her wedding, so I'm not sure if she will want to train with me this year.
My main goal is to get back in shape at about 185 and focus on maintenance.
