I want to sit down and eat a bag of chips.
There is some type of intangible pleasure I get from grazing on fatty, salty and crunchy foods. The need isn't satisfied by just eating an handful of chips either or a bowl of crunchy vegetables. I feel like I'm compelled to eat for an hour. It is hard for me to explain just what it is...

If I just wanted to do it once a week I would probably just work it into my diet plan but just once a week doesn't cut it. This "habit" is big part of the reason I gained the weight I did so for now I'm just eating one weighted ounce once or twice a week.

I have looked for healthy alternatives. So far I have found just one that seems to take care of the need fairly well. I eat one small bag of sunflower seeds. It takes me quite a while to shell each one which drags the eating out over a longer time. It takes me about 30 to 45 minutes to eat about 170 calories of seeds.

I know I haven't exactly asked any questions but this community seems to have great insights and ideas so I would like to hear what you all think. All comments are welcome.

What do you eat when watching Biggest Loser?
In the past I too ate large amounts of food while watching. I would usually eat chips and ice cream. My wife would say "doesn't that make you want to start a diet" and I would say "no it makes me hungry."

Now I eat a small bag of sunflower seeds. It takes me an hour to crack each one and eat the small seed. It probably isn't a good diet food since there is a lot of fat and 160 calories in one bag but it completely replaces the half bag of chips I would have eaten that have more like 900 calories in them. If I need more bulk then eat a pickle or two. An entire dill pickle runs about 20 calories depending on its size.

Need a Good scale
I recommend the eat smart scales. I just got one through Amazon and have found it be both consistent and accurate (as far as I can tell based on the weights I get from by Dr's office.
