Damage control any ideas on how to help my daughter?
Many great replies already, so I will not echo all of that in detail, but yes UNBELIEVABLE. I did want to share my thoughts and recommendations.

Anything that impacts me, I try to understand what I can learn from the significant situation relatively soon after the event. It helps me understand what matters to me. I have found that the things that matter to me are many times hidden in plan sight - right in front of me. These reflections have opened my eyes to the things that were important to me.

I also believe that we all have the power to significantly impact our own futures. I have surprised myself many times, by what I could do. If I have a goal and focus on working to that objective, I make unbelievable progress.

From the fact that it impacted her so much, she probably has a negative opinion of her weight (valid or not). At least she thinks her classmates have a negative opinion of her weight.

Sad to say, we all know she will be faced with this situation many more times in her life.

I would recommend sitting down with her one on one to talk about her negative opinion of her weight. Whether she is overweight or not, encourage her to educate herself on her situation. If she is not overweight, that should help her feel more comfortable in that situation in the future (that is a tough situation for a teen girl though). If she is overweight, it should help her identify what she can do to change that. Help her set goals and work toward them.

I know that is much easier written then done. It took me until age 35 to understand why I could not lose weight. But I did not realize weight (ultimately health) was that important to me until I was around 25 to 30. If I had not had a sitting down with myself to understand that health was very important to me, I know I would be morbidly obese today with almost no quality of life.

Not sure if this will help, but I wanted to try and help. Good luck - parenting is an adventure!
