nayta's Journal, 25 May 2016

Hi.
This morning I weighed 114 kg. That means that I have lost in total 8 kg. I bagan half januari this year. 8 kilo seems like a lot, but I don't see the difference on my body when I look in the mirror.
I have gone from size 24 to size 22 in my jeans. I wear my finger jewelry without a problem. All these rings did not fit earlier. I went one size down in my shoes.
How is it possible then that when I look in the mirror I see the same body. Especially the same big stomach and belly? Do you also go through this or is it me?

Personally, when I look in the mirror, I see the exact same person. That's why 'before' and 'during' photos are so important, along with body measurements. Definitely helps to be able to clearly see the difference!

Nayta, we all go through that! I've lost a good bit of weight and sizes but when I went to my friend's get together last Friday and we took pics, I was like, "Dammmm, I'm still so fat." We know that we are losing weight, feeling better, and looking better so (myself included), we need to celebrate and love our look every part of our journey. You are not alone in this struggle!!!!

I don't spend a lot of time looking in the mirror. For me, it is all about how I feel. When I have dropped weight enough to go down a size, I so enjoy the feelings that I get from looser clothes, rings that go in round and round on my finger, and the ability to hold my stomach in tighter. :)

The mind lags the body, both going up and going down...

You are doing great, and you are not alone in not being able to see immediate results. I think in some cases, the loss may not be where you can readily see it. For example, your jeans fit better, or you can get into a smaller size -- some of that loss is probably in your hip area, but do you know how hard it is to really see the size of your backside? Even with mirrors, I find it difficult to get a really good perspective picture! So forget the mirror and celebrate the change in jean size! That's a better measurement anyway!!!

I weigh close to you and until I loose at least 12 kg it is not really visually noticeable. That's why it is a good idea to take your measurements weekly and focus on those, especially at the beginning. I have lost 11 kg in the last 4 weeks and I still don't see it, but my clothes are loose so I know it's coming off. Hang in there!

I've got to tell you, I feel the same as you. I've lost almost fifty pounds, and I'm still wearing size 3x shirts. They are the smaller 3x compared to the ones I started with (which I was bursting out of.) My jeans have gone down from 24 to 20. When I get dressed to go out I think I look pretty good until someone takes a picture.

Compared to the others in the picture, I look like a gargantuan. I'm trying to use this to my advantage though, to help keep me focused that this journey is for the long term. Stick with your plan and don't let the discouragement take hold.

you are making PROGRESS! we all start and keep working at it.

If your rings are fitting and you've dropped pant sizes and you've dropped a shoe size then progress has been made. Relish in that. You may just be super focused on the parts you hate the most, e.g. your belly. It takes time to transform your body. Takes time to put it on and it takes time to get it off. Focus on what you have accomplished already and keep on pushing. You will get there. It's not how fast you get there; it's just important that you get there and you will hon. Doorbijten en hou je taai! Laat je niets tegen.

Hang in there, your weight will redistribute over time. You're doing very well with your progress.

Don't ever compare your picture to someone else's, especially if they are thin!! Instead, compare your own "before and after" pictures -- that's the way you can truly see changes (but don't do it every day, it takes time for the difference to show in pictures!) Above all, do NOT give up!!!

Sometimes you feel the weight loss more than you see it. I'd rather have it this way than feel heavy but weigh less. Clothes are my guideline.

I agree.....sometimes when I look in the mirror I see the same old Ron looking at me. But when I look at the weight journal, see my clothes not fitting anymore,(a 40inch waist trying to still wear the 48s in the closet, the belt is past my knees now!) I am a believer. There are other differences in your body also. We take pics every 20lb loss. I am just amazed and grateful that I found out about this LCHF and this fantastic supportive site!

I am happy with the reactions and got some good tips from all of you. That keeps me motivated. I will not give up and will try to enjoy the way I fit loser in my clothes now. This time I will succeed. I don't want to lose weight to fast because I want it to be lifetime change. A change in my eating habits and lifestyle. Your comments help me a lot. Thank you all. Like I say to myself: One day at a time.
