I'm a 74 year old woman with Afib, 1 - 100% blocked carotid, and PAD, which somewhat limits the amount and type of exercise I can do. Where I live is very rural and people let their dogs run loose, so most of my exercise is inside. I try to do at least 30 min/day on elliptical and want to work up to 45 min. in the near future. My only regular "other exercise" is feeding and watering 5 horses every day.

Can't seem to stick to a diet
It might help to re-package the treats into serving sizes so you can grab a bag when your treat is planned. That way you are less apt to eat the whole bag since you don't have to handle the big bag.

Can't seem to stick to a diet
My biggest temptation is sweets. Usually I can hold off temptation with fruit, but I also find the search for alternatives can be helpful. I look up recipes for sugar free, low fat desserts -- in some cases I decide they aren't worth the effort, but the time I have spent has allowed the craving to lessen. I. other cases I have found a new item to try. A few have been good enough to eat as a treat, and others make a good light meal (ie, breakfast of yogurt and berries in a frozen dish.) The important thing is to not give up!!

Do you hate vegetables as much as I hate vegetables?
Sorry, I can't help! I love vegetables -- well, most of them, anyway. I have come across a few I didn't like, but I found if I ate them raw first, I developed a taste for them, and them could find ways to cook them that I also liked. You might give that a try. Another suggestion is to combine them with something you do like -- for example, if you like cheese, pour some melted cheese over the cooked veggie. It helps to cover the smell and taste of the veggie. And, as dewy333 posted, don't just try it once, give it a couple of chances before you say you don't ever want to eat that again."

shocked at levels of obesity in the LA area..
I agree, spacey, that no one forces us to consume all that sugar, but it really annoyed me recently when I had to pay $3.00 for a bottle of water at a hospital, when the sodas were only $2.00! You would think a medical facility, particularly, would encourage the healthier choice!!

Food Scale or Body Weight Scale
I agree with Erica, I'd go for the food scale. It seems most of the new "fancy" scales vary by a couple of pounds from minute to minute, so the old one is probably just as accurate.
