Summer Solstice - longest day of light. Fantastic, isn't it? I am still struggling to eat enough calories because I have low appetite. I am getting closer to 1200 a day which is the norm. Last week I ate much less and exercised well but lost nothing! I truly hope this stimulates the metabolism because I am getting discouraged.

What helps keep me motivated is reading health and fitness articles. Not only does it help me learn more about taking care of myself, but it keeps my mind on my goals. In one article, for example, it told me that a good way to boost your metabolism is to "shock" your muscles. You can do this by doing different types of exercise, weight lifting, or simply walking faster than you normally would. I have thyroid issues, so I try to learn how to boost my metabolism.

Yes - I also have under-active thyroid and take medication. This is why I get discouraged because in the past I could lose to certain point and then...nothing.

Keep it up, you are doing great. Imagine what would happen if you weren't watching the scale - how do you feel? How do your clothes fit? I am struggling with the same issues of watching the scale plateau even while I am doing a GOOD job on diet and exercise, but I have to keep thinking about the things I can't measure - every little bit is adding up to success. Wishing you the best and I agree with istamadie that reading about fitness & nutrition keeps me motivated. (-:

Please don't get discouraged. Your positive attitude and encouraging others has to work for you, too. What would yyou tell me if I was in your place? I sort of am. I'm working out 4-5 days a week, keeping as active as my body will allow, eating less than 1500 calories (usually around 1200),but am losing very little. I try to be grateful for each pound or fraction thereof, lol..that does occasionally come off. I revel in my new muscle tone, the way clothes fit better. Still, I want more. In the past shaking things up by having a day where I eat a lot, but I can't bring myself to try that. I really hope that your getting your calories up does the trick. I do understand how frustrating it can be. I believe in you. I know your efforts will pay off. Take good care of you!

Thanks HeidiJ and CrabbyK and istamdie! THIS is why FS helps us - people who understand and give us a hand when we need it! I can see and feel the changes, and keep doing what I am doing. I just have to wait it out. I have read about Spiking for a day; and may consider it but my fear of gaining prevents me right now. If I am stuck for another few days, I may do it. THAnKS!
