Fatboy199's Journal, 27 March 2018

Yesterday, I was completely fatigued. Ate very well but still gained 1/10 of a point. Wanted to cry but instead laughed at the absurdity of it all. Was starving last night and I ate a small dinner salad with a splash of vinegar so that I didn't attempt to go to sleep hungry.
Woke up heavier....huh? Ate under 2000 calories for the day for the 3rd day in a row but still can't lose. I am drinking twice as much water and I find I am not eliminating it as much as I should or having normal bowel movements either so maybe it''s my body adjusting to this definite change of course?
I know I will have success with time. My dress shirts are fitting better and I am not in as much pain when I bend so there are multiple benefits to eating clean.

Stay the course, invest in myself and keep the faith.

Yep, scales can be heart breakers, akin to little devils trying to squash our journey on the path to healthy living. Hormones and other factors can make your weight fluctuate a lot in 24 hours. Sometimes it's best to weigh weekly. Stay strong!

Congratulations for deciding to get healthy! If you have increased you fluids and feel like you are not eliminating the extra fluid and you are feeling really tired, you might want to visit your doctor just to make sure that you aren’t fluid overloaded. Your heart might need some help pumping. Good luck on your journey. You can do it!! But do make sure that you are safe by getting a physical!!!

Get a Fitbit Charge 2. It helps you keep track of calorie intake, water intake, calories burned and excercise. I've list 60 lbs using this little tool. It just helps one stay on top/control of things. Keep up the good work: success is just ahead!!!

I can do the same thing. But I've started counting all high carb vegetables and fruits. Honestly there's not alot to eat when your counting high carbs out in the vegetable department. I've added more lean protein and less carbs and the pounds are coming off. Slowly but steady. Try changing foods around. :)

GOOGLE an article titled "Why the Scale Lies" - fluctuations are part of the game though frustrating.

Hi FatBoy199, My husband is 6'1". He is taking in under 2000 to loose 70 lbs. I am a 5'5" woman and am keeping my calories at 1400, but 5 days a month I do keto at only 750 calories. I find that my weight drops a pound a day with the keto, then I have a rapid, but short lived gain afterwards. If I watch my calories I do not gain back all the weight I lost on the keto days and soon loose even more. So my weight chart is like a total zigzag, but always with a downward trend. I find that loosing weight during the 5 keto days helps reenergize my determination to loose each month because it feels so good to see the weight fall of like that, but knowing it isn't something I have to do all dang month. The rest of the month I eat whatever I want, within reason (I try to be adult about it), but I watch my calories pretty darn good.

WOW! I am blown away by all the support. Thank you all....so much. I talked myself off that proverbial cliff a few minutes after weighing myself this morning and as it was so eloquently stated on this thread previously, this is a marathon and not a sprint. The very fact that I have had the capacity to alter my recklessness is a huge plus. I can say this enough, the aches, pains and internal pressure...like I was physically going to explode was so great that in comparison, today I fell like a new man. So onward I go! To each of you, a big thank you and all the best in your efforts also.

I have two tabs glued to the edge of my computer screen. One reads Keto Days: Carbs 10%, Fat 70%, Protein 20%, Calories 720. The other reads Regular Diet: Carbs 50-60%, Fat 30%, Protein 12-20%, Calories 1400. That helps me to keep on track.

I understand perfectly regarding the aches and pain. My right knee lets me know 24-48 hours if there will be a storm, my left wrist lets me know about minor barometric drops. Just think, you are better than the weatherpeople.... Hand in there, you can do it. The FS family is great!!

@MereSess: Something similar was happening to me. I wasn't going full KETO but once or twice a week I'd cut down to around 1,000 calories, with low sodium, drinking lots of water, and the next day I'd be happy with the results. Then I'd STILL be eating less calories than even this site's RDI recommended, but I'd gain or plateau. Then I'd lose 1.5-2 pounds overnight. It's a TOTAL zig-zag process, but IN THE LONG RUN I've seen consistent progress. It's just that sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to actually see it on the scale. It can be frustrating and disheartening at times, and in those moments I REALLY want to do some revenge binge eating, but I take a deep breath and keep on moving forward. As a result I've lost 17 pounds since I joined here Feb 4th, 2018, and 40 pounds since Nov 27th, 2017. So fatboy199, it CAN be done. I'm 63, male, and weighed 253 November 27th, 2017. I now weigh 213.0 as of this morning's weight. I use the RDI on this site (as of Feb 4th) with the "sedentary" exercise setting since I don't do much exercise. (Every other day with dumbbells for 30 minutes.) I've cut out as many crappy carbs as I can (ice cream, cookies, candy, crackers, etc.) and focus on trying to eat at least 100 grams of protein/day, under 100 grams of net carbs/day, and I try to keep my sodium under 2,400 mg/day, while drinking 100 ounces of water/day. (I don't even worry about fat grams/day. The way I see it, the more fat the better, as long as my calories conform to the RDI here. So far...so good.)

I probably cannot speak life to your situation. All I can say is that only thing that worked for me is a Low Carb approach. I still don't set the world on fire. I don't look at this like a diet. I don't feel I am missing out on things. Occasionally, I think Wow potato chips. Then I see myself in my mind eating the whole bag. I guess you call that a trigger. Anyhow, I am on the Keto Life Style Approach. I don't call it a diet. I eat differently. I find ways to make my taste buds happy. If the scale doesn't move I try not to think about it too much. This morning I got up 1 pound down. I am so happy about that, but that is not the all in all. I am healthier and look healthier too! Your clothing fitting better is a huge plus. I am doing this for health reasons. I want to live longer and in doing it be in good condition. I just try to keep a positive attitude. I try to keep the scales moving down as much as possible--not easy for me. I am a slow loser and kind of sit at a new weight for a while before something changes. Good luck ........lifestyle is my word for you.

I went through the same. I keep mine between 12oo- 15oo.. and sometimes I go over. But on average I lose about 2 lbs. a week.

Hang tough! We all reach that moment if plateau in weight loss.

I totally agree, the only thing that works is KETO! I am here to tell you, I have tried them ALL and the Ketogenic Diet is a way of life. The pounds melt off while you stay full and satisfied eating bacon, eggs, steak, etc. Trust me on this one.
