Congratulations on the job! 🙋🏻Yay! I know you wanted to be somewhere you felt more appreciated! I’m so happy that’s happening for you! The Metformin could swing both ways for me when I was taking it. 🤦🏻‍♀️Sometimes it was an appetite suppressant and sometimes it actually made the appetite, especially for sweets, worse. So your doctor has got perfect timing in getting you off of it. 🤷🏻‍♀️It also suppresses absorbsion of Vitamin B, and may interfere with potassium and magnesium as well. LOL There are a few strategies I use to get around the hunger induced by this, one is to fill up on water as you know, or broth. 2. Is to make sure to eat a good salad or brocoli slaw meal at least once a day and more if you need to, vegetables at as many meals as you need. I baked riced cauliflower and squash into custards and ate them for breakfasts. The 3rd major one I use is my smoothies...lol...LOTS of ice...volume from the ice so that this isn’t a quick meal, it’s a treat that is filling and gives you hydrationat the same time and whatever else you want to sneak in. 🙆🏻‍♀️Good luck Hon! And congratulations again!🙋🏻

@cstella1 - sounds like I should check the wall at the post office (LOL!) @smprowett - at your counsel, I went back and checked the past blood serums on my potassium and magnesium (both normal, for as far back as I see); I have increased my 'roughage' lately and intend to monitor the water (not wanting to bloat either) - appreciate you!

Congratulations on the new job! Does that mean you have to move? When I stopped taking medication for an over-active thyroid my doctor told me I would gain weight. I thought I could just start a diet and not gain. But I did, for awhile and then the diet started working.

Thanks for the kudos, friends! I know all will go well with my move (a little colder than NC, I'm sure), but plenty of room for walkin'!

Losing the meds and gaining a new job = double win!! Wishing you good luck and continued success on both the work and weight loss front.

The blood work on the magnesium won’t give you the correct story! The only way to get it is an RBC test which is NOT done. Basically you can take 400-1000 mg of chelated or magnesium citrate a day (titrate up to where it starts diahrea and back off) or the same with liquid ionic magnesium which doesn’t give you the intestinal side effects since it is all absorbed.🤷🏻‍♀️ Low carb diets need to keep the electrolytes and sodium up with the hydration. And the electrolyte levels shown in the standard bloid tests don’t tell the story of the actual effective levels where you need them according to a few of the books I’ve read. 🙋🏻

Thanks to y'all, my dear followers! These past several days have been a whirlwind - finalizing the house closing, wrapping things up for work, dropping off my gear in PA a week early, etc... trying to keep my sanity.
