Why?

Why do they sew the pockets on women's slacks shut? That is if they give the slacks pockets. Sometimes they don't include any pockets. Not that I would notice this when I'm at the store buying pants. Nope. I notice it when I get to work and I have to carry around my debit card, keys, badge, etc. because if I carry my purse I will be asked 100 times "Oh.. are you leaving?" No.. no I'm not. I'm just too disorganized to eat breakfast before I leave home and there is a cafeteria here I fully plan to take advantage of in my pocketless pants I currently hate.

Is this a size thing? Maybe it's a size thing. If I was smaller would I have this issue? Is this a punishment of some sort? Who decided this? Can I smack them?

Also, why do my pants now have 6 ways of fastening? Is this also a size thing? It really really really does not encourage drinking a lot of water. When it takes you 5 minutes to walk to the bathroom, 20 minutes to undo a button, another button, 3 metal claw thingys that reclasp and unclasp in whatever order they feel like, AND a zipper.. it's close. It does throw some excitement into my day especially when I feel like I may sneeze at any moment. Whoever designed this pair of slacks I would also like to smack.

Today I have been contemplating slack designs wondering if this could be motivation to lose weight. If I lose weight will I find slacks that don't make me want to smack someone?? I have also managed to log my food for the 2nd day in a row. That's about it. That's all I'm managing. I would write more but I have to pee again. Wish me luck.

Me also laughing!! I don't think it's a size thing. They put in fake pockets for "design elements" and if you put stuff in then it changes the look. :D I sim[;y don't buy pants that are that hard to get in and out of... and rarely buy any that don't at least have back pockets that work! I would love to have pockets in my workout pants but not many have them.. Good for you on tracking!!!

Good job getting them undone! Maybe it counts as exercise? 💁🏻‍♀️But seriously, I’ve started buying what they used to call mini dresses, probably still do, and I wear them as tunics because I had one a few years back I wore that way and always got compliments. My rear shows when I want it to, thank younvery much, my waist doesn’t, and I wear pants or leggings under them with boots and the advantage is that quite a few if them have (you guessed it!) pockets! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Men's suit coat pockets are often sewn shut as well. Guess the designer maybe doesn't want anything to mess up the line of his/her design. Possibly faster to manufacture. But I'm more into function than appearance, and cut them open. Thanks for the laughs!

LOL, yep I always wondered that also, maybe 'google' it....awwww I'm too lazy to do that, plus I don't buy them, live & work in jeans!

I figured out that if there are pockets sewn shut, then you have to unsew them so you can use them - they sew them shut to keep people from stretching them out or ripped before they're sold.

Girl! I know!!! This is every woman's rant. If I find a dress or nice pair of slacks with pockets, instantly my favorite!

Pockets actually start out sewn shut. LOL It’s laziness on the part of the designers and seamstresses, plus it keeps the line of the garment straight to not open them up and to leave it up to the person who buys the original garment. 🤷🏻‍♀️When a pocket is sewn, to keep it straight that edge is closed. To be actually finished it should be opened with a seam ripper. But gee, every home has one of those! LOL 😆 🤦🏻‍♀️
