Why do I have my carbs ans calories right about where I want them for the day and then have an Atkins bar "for a treat" and end up going over on carbs and calories when I didn't need the bar at all arrrggghhhhh dumb dumb dumb. Learn and don't repeat.

Diet Calendar Entry for 19 February 2012:
2013 kcal Fat: 155.16g | Prot: 112.95g | Carb: 52.98g.   Breakfast: Espresso with 4 oz water added, Chorizo,  Cream cheese, Bacon, Fried egg, Butter, Olive oil, Salsa, MIM Muffin in a Minute. Dinner: Wing sauce, Flax seed oil, Butter, Green beans, Chicken wings. Snacks/Other: Atkins caramel nougat bar, Espresso, Ounces of water, D-mannose. more...

Well on the bright side, if you have to have a treat a bar is better than chocolate cake (diet wise anyway). So in that respect you did well, lol! It most likely won't effect your weight too much if at all. I eat the Atkins bars and still lose.

I did the same thing today but with a grilled cheese sandwich. Don't know why we can't learn.

I do the same thing with the bars! For some reason I forget to adjust everything else when I have one, thn think- I was good with just the veggies! Suzi161 is right though, sometimes we just need something to keep from feeling deprived and I think you are making a smart choice going for the bar instead of candy or cake and derailing everything.

Usually when one craves sugar/bars it means that something you ate just recently is a trigger food and awakens the GIANT insides us. You can still have some bar, but try cutting them up into bite size pieces and then eat only one piece slowly. (put the others away for another day) This way you only use 1/4 the KCAL/CARB/Protein, but you have your sweet/snacktooth is satisfied. That is what I try to do.

After dinner is a time I almost always had a Ghiardelli dark chocolate square, and for a year or two, also after lunch at work. Some times after dinner I do have cravings. Reminds me of when I quit smoking. But I am happy that much of the time I have few cravings. But I am so glad that I have the Atkins bars I bought in my drawer at work as well as my drawer at home.
