kmartdollie's Journal, 15 February 2012

I went to the doctor yesterday. She was happy with my diabetes progress, but was rather underwhelmed with my weight loss. I have lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks, and she said "That's a decent start." I know I have a lot of weight to lose but I was hoping for a more positive reception. I go and see her again in 3 months, and I will have an A1C blood test - that's to see what your average blood sugar is over 3 months. I am going to renew my commitment to losing weight and I hope that I will make a lot of progress over this next 3 months so that when I go and see her again she will actually say something positive!

Dont take her comments personal....Doctors.... (rolled eyes)The fact that she said anything was probably a great tribute to you! Remember they see about 25 to 50 patients on a good day and her mind was probably still processing the details of the last patient she saw. I like my doctor but every time she sees me which is about twice a year she ask me the same questions as if she has never seen me before. However my husband had a spell of very poor health during a three year period and saw his doctor about once a week for four months, He seemed to become more invested in my husbands outcome, he even called him at home personally and reminded him to make an appointment for a follow-up. I work in the same medical facility...he calls me by my first name and sat with me at lunch one day in the cafeteria...I guess what Im saying is Doctors are people too and most of the time they are very overwelmed. Its not the little triumphs that they focus on because they are trying too much to plugs the bigs leaks in the dam...

Yea, four pounds is amazing and if your doctor doesn't think so they are a bit of an ass. Great job!
