heartburn shouldn't be related to the high fat, depending on how much fried foods you are eating

I agree. Not so much fat as "fried fat" is likely a problem, but acidic foods can do it too, tomato sauce, coffee, etc.

yes. fatty foods slow stomach emptying so reflux is more likely.

Thank you all for your insights. It is rather annoying, and somewhat painful, but I will have to watch and see. I don't eat much fried food either, no tomatoes lately, ...

I think it depends a lot on the kind of fat and how much. I noticed that the worst bouts of heartburn for me occur after I eat crunchy carby snacks processed with fats, e.g. cookies and chips. Since I got serious here I have almost eliminated junk food and have not needed tablets to fight the reflux. The other thing, and maybe more effective, is I am limiting my feeding window to under 8 hrs. This gives my digestive system at least 16 hours to process my days food (before I add more fuel to the furnace).

Marcus Welby, I have been on meds for reflux for several years. Once I started the low carb diet, I found I could stop taking them all together. My fat intake has increased on this diet rather than decreased.

I agree. Heartburn has vanished with LCHF -once I adapted. For me it's related to carbs and sugars, maybe mixed with fat.

Our doctor recommended that we take a tablespoon of coconut oil before our first cup of coffee for the day to rid us of heartburn....haven't had heartburn since. It seems to last all day! My husband used to eat antacids...no longer!

I agree with most above. Not with fat so much as with the carbs ...or supplements... that I have already consumed. When I behave, (lc/hf) I never have hb :)

Too much of a good thing talking back to you?

Heartburn=related to your diet and weight. Try keeping a log and trend when you are having problems and then you will know what foods trigger it. Dropping weight should help too.

That is very true, Arabelle, dropping weight should help...that is what I am hoping for, and indeed I cannot tell who the culprit is...it may be my just being ..fat :-)

Even dropping 10 pounds may help.
