Hmmmm...interestinger and interestinger! Apparently the sushi isn't going to do the usual thing and bump my weight up. Been holding steady for the last couple of days.
So here's an interesting theory: I'm absolutely convinced that the Law of Attraction is always at work in our lives. I.e, "Thoughts become things". Also, many of us have said that weight loss is 90% a mind game. You have to have your mind made up that you're going to lose weight before you start.
So, what if it's actually 100% a mind game? What if your *belief* in a certain WOE is what the real magic is, and not the WOE itself? People on here have all kinds of different diets, all of which work to one extent or another.
Dr. Andrew Weil wrote many years ago that patients often get well on placebo medicines because their doctor convinces them that it will absolutely work.
Dr. Bruce Lipton has written and spoken extensively on epigenetics, or the "biology of belief". That is, that environment determines gene expression.
We know that advertising wreaks havoc on determination in diets. Seeing pizza ads while you poke at your little salad is enough to break anyone's resolve. Because we *believe* that eating pizza will make us fat...it does! But, if a 'credible study' came out that said that pizza is the ultimate weight loss pill, and enough people believed it, I wonder if it would become that?
Just some rambling thoughts that went through my brain this morning.
Have a great, relaxing Sunday, buddies!

I am a strong believer in the power of the mind, it can do wonders but it can't do it all. Even though we have to make up our mind to lose weight, it is not the only factor in it. What does it mean? We are actually going to change what and how we eat. So, if you make up your mind and continue the way you ate you definitely will not lose weight. The mind is not changing the weight, it has the power to change our habits./// As for the many different diets and some people are successful and others are not - for me it is an indicator that science is far away form knowing what is really happening in our bodies.

You make a good point, Jozette. Look where belief in low fat, high carb diets has gotten us. Thanks.

I love your musings. I'm a great believer in self belief (yes, I could have constructed that sentence better). It helps us focus on what needs to be done

Interesting ideas there, the mind is a power that can change our life. We are controlled by our thoughts and desires. Hope this year is good for you and your desires, and health.

Clicking my heels together and saying, "there is nothing that will add to my weight, there is nothing that will add to my weight!"

Usually it is the other way around - think of a muffin and it ends up right on your hips *lol*

I think for me, what Jozette says is the truth. Positive thinking is half the battle ... the other half is changing bad habits. I have looked over my past journal history and see no real change. I seem to go back to my old habits after a certain point. I also believe having the support here on FS helps keep that positive thinking going. :o) *Holds up cup of herbal tea* -- Here's to changing bad habits and making new healthy ones!!! Happy New Year!

anything works that gets you burning more calories than you eat. getting into that zone is 100 percent mental. it is easier on some diets than others though
