Holding steady while still trying to jump off the carb train. No, I'm not trying very hard. LOL But I'm getting mentally prepared to hit it hard again. When I started back in April, it took me 3 weeks of mental preparation.
Diet fatigue is a real thing, and some things that used to be my favorite low- or no-carb treats are just boring now. I was also having a hard time getting enough veggies in my diet, meaning pretty poor nutrition on that front. I finally hit on a good solution for that, as long as I'm being a little more liberal with the carbs (<50g/day): V8 juice! 11g net carbs per 11.5 oz can, with 2 full servings of veg, and 3g fiber. And I love the taste!
This week has been grueling at work, and Tuesday night I pulled or strained a muscle in my back, taking out the trash. Work yesterday was a killer, being that that muscle is one that comes into play when I shampoo hair at the bowl. It's also one that is necessary for sitting down and standing up. Thank goodness for Thursdays off....I'm taking it very easy today.
Happy run-up to the weekend, buddies!

Hi Kes, not heard of the phrase diet fatigue before but it described what I felt I'd hit in September and I didn't lose much weight after that. I feel I'm getting back on track now. I like looking at other people's food diaries but I've found it puzzling that peeps on HFLC diets often don't seem to be eating any vegetables or salads. I try to eat them every day although I frequently don't hit the "5 a day" mark. It was interesting to read you had a hard time including them. I'm sorry to hear you've got a poorly back - I hope it gets better soon. Take care.

I didn't realize it had a name..."diet fatigue", I just call it bored! Feel better!

Oh, that sounds nasty. A strained muscle can be painful and tiresome. Hope you can take some time to relax a bit...such a busy lady 🌟

Good tip MsKes about the V8 juice as I don't get enough veggies as well sometimes. Thank you and I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks guys. Diet fatigue is something I learned about in my 'prepper' phase...you know, preparing for the zombie apocalypse. LOL Many beginners would stockpile dried beans and rice, thinking it would sustain them through times of no grocery stores. But, realistically, how long could one go *only* eating beans and rice before getting to the point that eating nothing is preferable to *yet another* meal of beans and rice? The same applies to bacon and eggs. There are some veggies I like very much, but they're not on the keto list. Peas, beans, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots....very carby. And, of course, all the grains. When your 'approved' food list is confined to leafy greens, meats and fats, it gets old sooner or later. I've also found that salads from restaurants are so much more appetizing than ones I make at home, even if I try to duplicate them. Not sure what the dynamic is there, but there it is. There has to be a balance of eating *real* food and the demands of a *real* life. When you're exhausted from a modern working day, but need primal foods to keep you healthy.....how do you compromise??

Maybe adding in a few carby veg would be a good compromise?

I'm with Doobrie. I need lots of fibre in my diet and have just given up on trying to stick to leafy greens. There just isn't enough fibre in them. So I add carby veg and try not to think about it too much. At least they aren't a big fat cheese sandwich!
