No walking today...barely above freezing, sunny and really windy! These Southern homes are not built for these temps and conditions, so every room feels a bit cool and drafty, no matter what heat setting I choose.

I'm feeling back to normal...all the physical changes from the higher level of carbs are pretty much gone and the scale is coming down.

For exercise today, I'm thinking of giving my new Zumba routine a try. The XBox version was on sale at Best Buy, so I bought a copy yesterday. Between that and the Just Dance game, I should be able to get some fun exercise in (if I don't kill myself trying - LOL!). Now I just have to figure out how to capture calories on my HRM...I know it captures them but I need to know how to zero them out before I start. I also plan on cutting the result in half, as that's what I found when I compared the calories on the HRM compared to the calories shown on the Stairmaster when I did a SM routine - my HRM seems to greatly over-estimate the calories burned.

NOTE: Sure enough, my HRM gave me 404 calories burned but I KNOW there's no way I burned more doing the video games than I would have in a 3+-mile walk. I estimated a 30-minute workout because probably half of the hour I was in front of the sensor was spent setting up the games and fumbling with the controls! This should get easier, right??

Afternoon Sandy, I know what you mean by southern homes not meant for cold. Even though here in Az we've been down to 34, it feels much colder because we can't get house warm enough... but can't complain today it's 70 !

Well, Bren, we've got a veritable heat wave compared to you, I guess. I wasn't able to connect with my inner dancer, as I got lost on the second Zumba lesson! I did manage to get through 2 routines on Just Dance and then spent the rest of my time on Kinect Adventures....love rafting down the river! Bet you're lovin' those fuzzy socks of yours!

Notfast, 70 degrees would feel great today. At least we only have to endure 2 days of this (for now)...by tomorrow afternoon, we'll begin to inch our way up the thermometer and the wind should be dying down by then as well.

Sandy it sounds like you are having Missouri weather...what is the deal???I am sure you burned lots of calories, I use my fitbit, and it is pretty accurate. My resting metabolic rate on Fitbit is almost identical to what FS says. As for your inner dancer...well, no matter how badly you think you did, it is way better than I could! lol Hugs my friend, and have fun!

Thanks Stef. We're north enough that we'll have the occasional freezing weather....enough so that you need to have the pool pump running overnight and also cold enough that the outdoor pipes and spigots need to be covered (burst an uncovered one the first winter we were here). Anyway, this is just the first of a handful we'll have. But, we should pop right back up into the 60's by the weekend. I'll be back on Zumba...just need to take it 1 lesson at a time and maybe do a bit more practicing...plus I doubt that even Michael Jackson could do the steps wearing athletic shoes on carpet - LOL!

Who really knows how accurate those calorie estimates are? I feel you should just do the dances and have fun. If you find yourself having fun you'll dance longer and burn more calories - but I'm an amateur so what do I know?

Oh, so glad to hear you are enjoying something besides walking...Zumba, Zumba (chanting), will help keep you warm! I am 1.4 lbs away from buying one of those xbox things! Zumba, Zumba....ZUMBA!

Hey Sandy - a brisk 6 degrees here this morning - so I went straight to the gym! So glad you weren't out walking if it was just too darn cold! And great job on doing the Zumba (it does get easier!) and the adventures, etc... sounds like great fun! Which I think exercise should be!

GG, look for specials on XBoxes....lots of specials out there and read teh reviews on the "smaller memory" system vs. the bigger one to see what you need. I'm not going to utilize the online community and there's just me and DH, so the smaller one is just fine for us. DH managed to get a good price at KMart plus they gave him a gift card for $75 in games. I've seen other retailers do a variation of that when they put it on sale...seems like a good deal.

Paula, I know you've done Zumba so it's good to hear it gets easier where I won't have to think about the steps so much and can just enjoy dancing to the music.

Bren, I think it's time I invested in some of those socks...my toes and ankles are freezing!
