Yesterday was a great day. This morning I got on the scale and lost 1 pound. I am a happy camper. It amazes me that I haven't gained a whole bunch after all I ate over the holidays.
I bought some unrefined coconut oil. Will someone tell me how to use it? I heard it will lower my cholesterol and help me lose weight. I would appreciate any advice.

When I take it, I normally will take 2 - 3 teaspoons per day. But be aware that you may experience loose stools when you first start taking it.

Coconut oil will not help you lose weight on its own. You have to include it in a measured diet. Coconut oil is fat, pure and simple. Unless you rub it vigorously all over your body 3 times a day and burn some calories, coconut oil won't lower your cholesterol or help you lose weight. I had a soap one time which claimed that I would lose weight using it - the instructions for use of the soap basically amounted to calisthenics twice a day!

There is evidence that ingesting coconut oil can aid in burning additional fat in our bodies, may aid brain function, and may help with increasing good (HDL) cholesterol among other possible health benefits. I've had significant increase of HDL, almost 100% increase, over time. I don't know how is attributable soley to coconut oil had as I also improved my diet overall and increased physical activity, but I believe it has helped me. There are a number of ways you can use it and incorporate it into your diet. Can be eaten plain, added to coffee, used as an oil for cooking/baking, etc. For best health benefits use unrefined, virgin coconut oil. It will smell and taste like coconut - the refined oil does not have a smell or taste.

coconut oil may whiten your teeth after using it daily to swish around and spit out. I was amazed at a friend's results. I have been meaning to try it

I take a spoonful and eat it. Have to get over the fact it looks like Crisco shortening. LOL! Great drop in weight, too!!!! :)

You can use it for 'oil pulling' swish it in your mouth for several minutes. It is anti-microbial, so it cleans up any bacterial colonies hiding in your teeth and really helped my arthritis. As in joint pain completely gone.
