AS many of you know I firmly believe that many things in one's life affect your weight. One has to feel good about themselves in so many ways to be healthy. That does not mean just your body but everything in your life. One thing for me is having a home I love and the fact most of the work has been done by me.

Reflections over the past couple weeks re: my lack of energy and feeling overwhelmed is my normal seasonal battle with SADD. The warm weather I think was in the way of me realizing it. 5000 units of vitamin D3 were not helping. This past week I upped it to 10000 units and added more B complex vitamins: Oh my what a change!! I feel like me again. Instead of no energy and no direction I'm suddenly back on track.

I've started ice skating after work when I can as the outdoor rink is open and it is free for seniors. I'm also back to the gym when time allows and back to exercising at home when overtime at work or other obligations encroach on my after work time. My 1958 little ranch house fights my attempts at forcing it into the 21st century.

I'm also back to an organized plan to get some remodeling done on my house before Christmas. It will delay me putting up my tree etc. but that's ok as mine stays up until after a January family get-together at my house. Barring unforeseen issues I should have my dining room and hallway finished within 2 weeks.

So life is good. Weight hasn't changed. Spending the day on cooking for the week and working on my re-do.

Your remodeling projects have inspired me to get back on mine. I've had my fireplace surround half-painted for over a year! LOL!

Glad to hear you are back to feeling better. It is funny how something seemingly insignificant can have such an impact on our total well being. You always seem to be able to listen to your body for the right path...good for you. You inspire me to listen more carefully. Thank you.

Wow - I take 3000 iu's of vitamin D daily, but I live further north than you!

Mskestreia, forcing my 1958 ranch house into the 21st century is part of my feel good about me plan. Good luck with your projects. My ugly dining room has been haunting me since 2009 though many other things in my house have been done. Gwen, I have to listen, even my doc says to listen. My sugar and salt levels tend to crash and my asthma and migraines act up. I've learned to pay attention. HCB, I'm up to 10,000. It seems to be working, every year it seems to get worse, I don't like it. Had to try for a solution without going on depression meds every fall and winter. I Will have to be careful as you really should not take over 12,00o iu's a day over time or it can lead to problems. I will watch the symptoms. Right now I'm feeling really good.

You really have a lot of things going on but it really sounds like you are enjoying yourself and having fun. Nice balancing act!!!

Oh - I thought you wrote 1000 iu's - are you taking 10,000 iu's then? Whatever it is, I hope it helps you feel better.

SjF60, yup life is good. So much healthier almost 70 pound lighter and eating and exercising to be healthy. Just have been fighting this SADD depression thing, it's a seasonal thing not a real depression. Finding a way to cope with it is the hard thing. My house is a challenge as this 1958 ranch house fights me every step to bring it into the 21st century. I will win--I may have a helper next weekend or more-- at least one of my triplet 15 yo grandsons are hoping to be here. One is usually more helpful than all 3. ;) I have a blast with them.

I had a lot of trouble when I moved to Minnesota after spending 40 years in California -- land of sunshine. I remember my grandmothers and the way they handled it -- one kept a large pot of blooming oxalis next to her bedroom door and a large goldfish bowl of colorful fish on her kitchen table and the other grandmother always had a window filled with blooming plants (begonias, periwinkles, orchids, violets) next to where she had her favorite chair and the telephone. I'm finding that that really makes a difference for me at a time when the world loses all color and becomes shades of grey. Also, switching over to full spectrum lighting in the bathroom and kitchen (easy to do with florescent light fixtures) and special full spectrum lamps next to the computer and chair where I read have been a major boost to my mood (got a floor lamp and table lamp pretty cheap at the fabric store)

Such cool ideas Chris. I love flowers and nature near me somewhere. Here it can get just SO hot and dry that it is this weather that depresses me. Everything is dry. I love the green cool and pretty around me. Lighting, fans and plants always change my mood too.

Thanks HCB I left out a zero, just went and fixed it. I gave up on 1000 years ago. ;) The past 2 years I've taken 5000. Chris great ideas, I do have full spectrum halogen lighting in most of my house or close as I can to it. I also have plants though I'm not good at keeping them blooming LOL. Also windows that let the sunshine in when I'm home on weekends and get outside whenever I can, Missouri weather isn't always the best for that in the winter. During the week I drive to work in the dark and home as the sun is setting this time of year.
