LadyinDenim's Journal, 19 November 2016

Decided to log a daily weight and food diary. Have been doing all the worst stuff: gas station food, hiding empty wrappers and cartons, swearing every day that TOMORROW I'll fast.

The thought entered my head yesterday: "Why not start back with fatsecret? It was working."

Good thought.

Welcome back. Rather than jumping back into fasting, why not get into ketosis first? It'll be easier, I think.

Welcome back! I have never felt more supported in my journey than with this group of wonderful people! You got this!

Been there, done that! Welcome back, you've been missed. Why is it that when we start having real success we find so many ways to sabotage ourselves?

Welcome back, Lady! Back to the grind we go, you have it in you, but I agree with Msk, don't jump into a fast-start small, maybe go low carb again first.

I've been there. Just started doing Fat Secret myself. My sister got me to join. It's a nice way to get some support. I've also been reading "Fat Chance" by Dr Robert Lustig. Very helpful book. I recommend it and the Bright Line Eating website. It has helped me get rid of the "wrapper in the car" syndrome and drop 10 lbs in less than 3 weeks. Feels like a miracle. Check it out if you get a chance. Some inspiration to be found there.

I knew I hit my bottom when I bought two hot breakfast sandwiches at SA - - at 4:00 p.m. They were sitting under the heat lamps so long, they were actually burnt in places. Buying them may not have been a bottom, but eating them was!

Ah, Denim - let's face it. We got a little bit of Momma Grizzly DNA in us. Shortening daylight hours, cold weather and the onset of winter makes eating our favourite indoor sport. I spotted a couple of portly German tourists in Banff last week and thought "Hmmmm. Snack food". Griz mind at work. Looked in the cupboard. Saw baking chocolate. Ate it. Griz mind at work. Gotta wrestle with that bear every day. At the moment, the bear is winning.

I'm in the same sinking boat. Trying to swim to life preserver! I've got to start logging all this crap I'm eating then maybe I'll stop. Good luck to you. We got this. We know what to do just have to do it.

IKR? It finally snowed yesterday. I was so cold and whiny, too. But now that the snow is on the ground, I feel somehow better. What is it doing up in Canada?

Misty, I do not judge you for overeating and not logging your food. I was doing that same thing and it felt freeing and like the stress was lessened. But I was lying to myself watching the scale creep up a little here and there. "I won't let it go over 220," I remember thinking. "It's water. You know it's not water." Ha ha. Apparently, I have a common sense side that wins sometimes :D

Lady, I've been worrying about you! Wondering where the heck you were off to! Now I know: the gas station! Ha! I guess your body is rebelling against the rough treatment you've been giving it this year, forcing it to shrink. You know you belong here; don't give up on yourself or on us. We are in this together! I had a couple of days of out of town trainings and went off the rails too, but I'm back on, trying to shed the blip from losing my fat adapted ketonic state (all from one damned tiny bag of Terra Chips that I indulged in while trying to avoid all the cookies and brownies on the table!) Climb aboard; this wagon is traveling in the direction we all want to be going!

At some point, I felt really stupid that I stayed off the boards so long. I let myself feel stupid for a few days before coming back.

No ones perfect here, dear (except perhaps Oliver, who seems to know everything that no one cares about), I'm up this week, but haven't logged it because I keep hoping it will come down again. But that would require lower calories, which I am not managing very well. Maybe tomorrow? I did work up a sweat today for hours in the garden; we had a warm day here.

These have been stressful times. My students are having trouble concentrating too. We need to be good to each other and to ourselves. Happy you found your way back to us!
