I find it annoying that you have to be ever-vigilant or your sneaky brain gets one over on you. I ate well all day, wasnt super hungry, just wanted a little something crunchy for tv time and i has 200 calories to spare. Why do I possibly think that I can eat 5 chips? How many times do I need to prove to myself that this is not a food choice I can control? When will I prepare something that goes with my WOE -like some fat bombs? Frustrating when we allow our lizard brains to take over and drive. I am mad at myself.

Yeah, there are those foods that I just can't have in the house.. The whole container is a serving and like you, I've been stung by the truth dart many a time when I think I'm stronger than my addiction. It just can't happen if I'm going to be successful.

Ooh, I just succumbed to the cheezit temptation, thinking that I could just eat half a bag!

The food industry prepares products with long shelf life that contain combinations of salt sugar fat and flavour enhancers to ensure you get hooked and consume as much as possible and that they and retailers make money. Probably like cigarette industry, they are associated with big lobby groups to ensure that products are allowed to remain on the shelves. Like cigarettes, such food and alcohol should come with warnings. Feeding to children should be prohibited. My local small grocery store has 6-7 aisles. One aisle is dedicated to beer and soft drinks. Another aisle to potato chips and other snack foods. Generally you will dairy, vegetables, meats are located on the perimeter of the store. Stay on the perimeter, and avoid the inner aisles that contain processed foods. Quickly pop in to the "grains' section to grab your oatmeal, etc., but get out fast!

Vigilance: we have to be sooo good to erase the bad choices, that it ends up just being easier to make better choices in the first place. Boring perhaps, but moderation wins out in the end!
