Darn it anyway, but LCHF works! After 2 weeks of chasing the same 4 pounds, I am making consistent progress with LCHF.

Tomorrow, I start fasting 5 days. The fifth day is the new moon. That should plant me firmly in the 220s. The five days are all work days, but I should be alright. The only trouble I see is decompressing after work, which usually involves eating. Will focus more on emotional and spiritual health this time around.

LCHF works where other diets fail miserably, not to say other diets can't or won't work, but why be miserable when there's a better way?

Because you get to eat chips? I was listening to Dr. Sarah Hallberg on FitterU channel, YouTube. She was talking about making cheesecake with xylitol and a nut/butter crust, almond flour muffins, coconut flour pancakes. If I could make thise things work, I could see myself eating this way forever.

Lady, I was going to join you on the new moon fast, but I think because of my pneumonia, that I'll have to skip this month. Maybe the next cycle will work better for me. I'll be cheering you on though!

Just looked at your chart: down 32 lbs since late May - in two months! Wow! You are knockin' it out of the park!

You're doing great, and the pics and charts prove it! Good luck on that 5 day fast. I may join you too one day.

I'm doing Atkins and it's the only way that works for me. Calorie-counting diets leave me hungry and with cravings, but not Atkins. I can have a Chocolate Peanut Butter Meal Bar and still be on my diet, yet satisfy my need for chocolate. I can't do a fast though. I'm not diabetic but my sugar will drop if I go too long without food. Keep up the good work...you're going great.

In the fasted state, our bodies maintain a steady blood sugar because our muscles release glucagon and when that is gone, our livers make glucose from the glycerol in triglycerides. You could fast if you wanted to, but probably it's best to gradually increase the length of fasts. Not really sure about that. @Erika, I would think fasting is goid for pneumonia or any serious illness, but you do what is right for you. Pneumonua is nothing to play with. If you are still feverish and coughing after 48 hours on antibiotic therapy, you need to get back to the doctor. Augmentin never touches my bugs and it's alwats the first thing they prescribe. Amoxicillin is what cures mine every time.

Gillian, read up on ketosis in Atkins. The point of Atkins is to let your sugar drop, so that your body is burning fats; that's why it works. Fasting just pushes that process a bit further.

Grr, typos!

Lady, you explained the fasted state very well, better than I did, thanks. Also, I'm still coughing and weak, but by fever is gone, so I'm guessing the meds worked. (levofloxacin) Thanks for your advice. How long til I get my energy back do you think? I'm wondering about returning to my work.

Awesome job! So glad LCHF is working for you.... I love it too! Can't see myself every eating any other way. :)

I've made some of the keto goodies, and they're not half bad! There are some really good recipes on a website called, "She Calls Me Hobbit". I didn't have time to eat yesterday, so I ended up doing a 30 hour fast. I'm pretty sure I can do the 5 days with you.

My advice for after work on those 5 fasting days, Lady, is to stay busy. Mentally when you are tired even. Take a hot shower (or cool), read, do word puzzles (like me), take a nap, go shopping, tan in your back yard, garden, play with pets (if you have them) hang with us online, start a blog or other page (and make sure you tell us about it), clean, talk on the phone....just stay distracted!

Thanks, shapeshift. Will take your suggestions and add them to my toolbox☺ @ImLaura, thanks for chiming in! Am dreaming of Fritos right now. If only I could sneak them past my liver and pancreas! @Erika, you need to rest, rest, rest. It's very easy to relapse when you overdo it. Generally, two weeks from your first abx dose, you can function at 50%. Gradually, increase your activity and you'll be your old self at the 3.5 week mark.

Oh geez, Lady. My doctor gave me a work note for three days, so I'm feeling guilty for needing the whole week. My job is very physically demanding. I've got 5 gardens out there growing weeds and a summer session that is half over. This is not computing.

I've wanted to try fasting but have never taken that first step past the 18-6 (6:00 pm to Noon) here and there. How do you all do it? Thanks
