Revaudrey's Journal, 30 June 2016

midway through a business trip.
It’s easy to eat well when there is a good variety of foods available... and the food here is great.

I am sticking with protein and veggies, a small amount of fruit and one portion of a “carby-starch” (potatoes, roll, rice) at dinner. NO desserts. NO alcohol.

I watch how others eat and wonder how they do it. Wine, strawberry shortcake, sausage, grits.

It is discouraging.

It's a fair observation, of course you'll get answers and reasons that are all over the map. I believe that metabolism varies from person to person, that some people are more efficient at burning sugars than others and easily switch from burning carbohydrates to burning fat while others have to maintain consistently low levels of carbohydrates to make that switch, and that some are more insulin sensitive and insulin resistant than others. In short, there are probably a lot of variables and work and no one reason to be blamed.

I also notice with my skinnier friends that they do eat a lot less often. And when do they have ice cream or cake..its only at a party.. very rare. And they dont just eat ice cream to eat it. I agree everyone is different too. But its just an observation.

People that are overweight like to think that everyone eats the way they do. My own personal experience has been some do, others don't, some are extremely active, others are lazy as hell. I've yet to see two people fit the exact same mold. There's an alchemy of personal responsibility and neglect at work, biological and environmental factors that are unique to everyone.

Have a look at a youtube video by Butter Bob Briggs entitled (something like) "The 50% Insulin Solution." It explains a lot. And gives you an idea what more you can do about it your own situation beyond dieting.

Great choices! I've got a vacation in 3 weeks, and staying on my plan is going to be a challenge. One of my best friends is blessed with an amazing metabolism, she can literally eat whatever she wants and not gain a pound. (I'm envious!) However, she never makes me feel embarrassed about how difficult it is to lose, nor does she rub what she can have in my face. Stay strong, and keep it up!
