Until you get some assistance from your doctor with your hormone issues, the only thing you CAN control is your WOE! That way, you only have one thing that's a problem - the hormones. You've already lost close to TWENTY pounds! That's a fantastic start and one that you wouldn't want to jeopardize. You should feel so very proud of yourself for this excellent start. While I think we'd all like to have someone around to help keep us in check, ultimately, it's our own individual responsibility that gets us through. Keep journaling here rather than going off plan. Vent, rant, bitch and moan....whatever helps. Just stay on plan. In a few days, or weeks, you'll look back on this period and feel so much pride that you were able to push on through, despite the medical issues.

I am trying, I don't have the energy to make the meals that take effort and I think my taste buds are off cuz some of the usual foods I like just taste gross or unappetizing. I need to get to the store I guess and find some kind of quick fixes and make sure I have plenty of soft stuff for thursday when they do my wisdom teeth... I have been wanting to try fruits like with greek yogurt for smoothies or something but I am afraid of adding in new foods while all this is going on since I am already fluctuating... I made it down to 191 but went back up again. How would I know if it is the food or just my body?

You can do this. You know it is only temporary - keep hounding the doctors office.

Honestly, cooking yourself some home made meals doesn't not really take much effort. Throw some chicken breasts in to the oven with some marinade. You can cook vegetables in 3 or 4 minutes. You can get prepackaged salads. Don't make excuses for yourself. You CAN do it no matter what is going on. It's all about getting healthy and making time to do it. Good luck!

It's the energy not the time, also let's say I am really new to cooking homemade stuff especially low-carb...suggestions for a marinade? I don't even know what things I should always have available to make good meals. My salad mixes go bad even eating a serving a day for lunch. yes there are recipes but every trip to the store is with 2 kids in a double stroller so i can't really go everyday for the "special" ingredients.

Light italiam dressing is a great marinade. I add salsa on chicken breast all the time. Just put it on top of chicken and pop it in the oven for about 25-30 minutes (At 375). Lemon and garlic is another great one.

Thank you :) I was raised very poor and my Mom never really made homemade stuff so she didn't teach me. I could easily make a meal to feed 10 people but it was never a nice healthy low-carb meal...

No matter what you do - just dont give up. You have worked too hard for every one of those pounds you have lost. This is a temporary feeling compared to a much longer feeling of shame and disappointment if you cave. Take it from someone who knows all to well. You can do this.

Missy - I know at times it gets overwhelming, but don't give up on yourself. 20 pounds is a huge accomplishment. I have a tight budget and a very tight schedule. Sometimes when I get home, I'm just so tired I don't feel like cooking anything. I would be much happier to sit on the couch with a bag of chips! I have a george foreman grill and I'll throw a chicken breast or a burger on there and it's ready in no time. I love soy sauce or lemon and garlic on my chicken. For my burger, I'll throw some cheese on their, spread a little mayo on it and eat it between some large pieces of lettuce (instead of a bun). My kids think this burger looks ridiculous, but it's good! Honest! When the supermarket has the steamer veggies on sale for $1 per bag, I stock pile on them. They won't go bad and you can throw them in the microwave and they are ready in 5 minutes. You can follow this diet on a tight budget, believe me. Good luck.

Same here. We ate a lot of spaghetti. MOst anything that you make is going to have much less calories than if you buy it at a restaurant. Chicken is your friend, you don't have to buy chicken breast, you can buy thighs and drumsticks. They do have more calories but not much more. You also don't have to marinade it at all just use salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder.. or any seasonings that you like. You can usually find cheap seasonings at the Dollar Store or another discounter.

Thank you for all the encouragements and suggestions. I have lots of seasonings now thanks to my bf and his always asking "Do you have...?" when he cooks at my place. He experiments i'm scared to lol. I have never got the steamer veggies but I have been getting some frozen green beans and stuff like that. Lunch has usually been salad so i guess i should figure out a good alternative...

I would definitely try the steamers. They are great and so easy. You take the bag out of the freezer and put it right in the microwave. I put some butter on them, maybe a little garlic. Soy sauce on broccoli or some cheese and put that back in the microwave to melt. Yummy! I got so sick of salad! And I found that I threw so much away. It doesn't stay fresh more than a day or two. The broccoli cauliflower winter blend veggies are my current favorite... with about 1/4 cup melted shredded cheddar. So good!

Kristy-You have that for lunch?
24 Oct 11 by member: Missychick21
Yes, lots of times I'll have that for lunch. I have a microwave at work and it makes it easy with very little planning. Sometimes I'll bring a piece of meat from dinner the night before, so I can get my protein in. I used to buy salads from a nearby deli or from the cafeteria at work, but it got to expensive... and boring! LOL I can buy those veggies and it will cost under $10 for a whole weeks worth of lunch/dinner. I was spening nearly $10 each day on a salad. This works well for me, and I think it would help you out too.

Thank you very much for the ideas I think I may head to the store after the baby wakes up. I've been tired all day but maybe I can muster up enough energy for the walk.

Rocky-I almost caved the other day and ate a bunch of macaroni and cheese. I think my main craving though is real bread... I have done flax and even MIM's with half almond flour but it still isn't bread. Sweets aren't too much of an issue since they do have things like the carb smart ice cream and the atkins products if I am desperate but I miss the bread. I give it to my kids so smelling it every time I make a sandwich makes it harder...

i feel bad for encouraging u to cheat a little yesterday but i think one piece of whole grain bread to kill the craving wont kill u.u suffer so much with all ur medical problems.of course i want u to succeed in ur weight loss but if one piece of bread is going to ease things a little....ya know.best of luck.

Rocky-Don't feel bad it not like you said "hey give up on yourself" :) I actually appreciate the faith that you believe I can keep going strong, even if I do have a little something extra. I know lots of people have "cheat" days and do just fine, maybe I am one of them.
