Preach it, sister!! Why are so many people like this? If it's not easy, they don't want it...

If Dr. Oz or Oprah says it.....it's fact and written in stone....."It was on TV...they had all these people testifying that it works"....Mom...they pay them to say that....NO THEY DON'T...Lord Jesus give me patience...

You're her kid. What do you know? That's the way it is and ever shall be. You know this!

Agree with Northernmusician... No matter what you say, parents always doubt their kids!!

Careful what you pray for Debra, praying for patience? How do you learn patience? Through trials. Pray for guidance instead. Just a memory of what my brother said one day. He was going through heavy trials after fervent prayers for patience! He learned that prayer faux pas the hard way. I laughed, with him tho.

What IzelZAwake said. It was told to me, ages ago, that if I asked God to give me patience (or any other attribute), He would put me in a situation that would REQUIRE me to use patience (or whatever the attribute in question is)! Always, ALWAYS, be careful what you ask for! ;-)

"No matter what you say, parents will always doubt their kids!!" Well, let me tell you, that it works both ways. My kids think I've gone crackers with my high fat, low carb eating. They think I'm endangering my health and they will not listen to any explanation. It makes family gatherings and meals a bit stressful. They look askance at my plates. This in spite of the fact that I've now lost 55 lbs.

I know right, all she has to do is look at me......I'm down 96 pounds, I am glowing with health, skin, hair, nails all shiny and growing...well skin is glowing not growing, but I have energy, I have not had an illness of any type in almost two years, and working with the public to boot...how often does that happen? I am going to pray for guidance..not patience, I forgot about that little request. Over the years I have had many trials to teach me those skills. I do pray that he give me the guidance to reach her in some manner. She feels so bad and she is getting so heavy and takes so many meds. 200 Units of insulin a day one in the morning and one at night, plus the stuff you take immediately following a meal, she eats like 5 or 6 times a day. I know this would help her. Thanks for the reminders guys, appreciate the support!

My mom used to use insulin in this way. "I'm going to have another piece of pie, so I'll take a little more." Okay, she never said it but she did it! Sugar is a powerful seductress.

Keep at her - she needs your guidance. Your example is the best guidance you can give her. If I've learned anything about weight loss, it is that you've got to keep the insulin down. Lots of insulin equals weight gain - period, end of story. This you know already with your amazing achievements. Keep up the good work. There is another saying - you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink. Let's hope she will drink.

Keep planting the seeds...eventually they will land on fertile ground. That's been my experience with family members. Congrats to you and all of your hard work.

Frankie is right. Insulin locks up fat stores. It's a real balancing act to get it off if you're diabetic. Add estrogen from fat into the mix and ....

Another aspect of this might be mother-daughter competition. Whatever you do, she's going to do something else. It's almost like sibling rivalry. You're winning the weight loss battle (by doing the work), so if she can find an easier way to win it then she's the bigger winner.

@FBE +10 ...THIS - "Your example is the best guidance you can give her." Perhaps the ONLY guidance.... I am attempting to just STFU with both my Dad and my kids - all of whom are possessed of Hatfield/McCoy style WVA obstinance and are experiencing the consequent life results. #bethechange

I guess I will do the STFU thing too, much less painful than pounding my head against a brick wall......it's not in my nature to back off though....Hell I get that from her!!! Guidance guidance guidance...this has been going on with she and I since the gitgo. I don't know why I expected it to change....but I did.

@DF Heard. Its not EASY for me and I F it up more often than not. But I do know that every time I succeed in letting that shiznit go, I feel much better. And life seems to unfold just fine without my SPASM...

HAHAHAHA!!! She is a sneaky ole broad, I had sent her the link and my password for my Kindle Cloud Reader....I just went in to look something up and I had left the book on the index....it is now at Chapter Two.....I ain't sayin S**T!!!!!

Ooooh! Mom is reading the Obesity Code? Woo Hoo! The thing of it is ... if she is on insulin, she will have to reduce that because of her blood sugar dropping too low. That is a very scary thing and will make her STOP eating low carb. (Ask my husband).

We have the same Dr, she goes once a month, she would never even THINK of changing anything without Misty's approval and Misty would approve and monitor her in her efforts if she chose to give it a try.
